The name of the scent is "Fresh". It would not be the same as the Gain scent. The Febreze Team

Q: How does this actually work? Does it bind to odors and neutralize them? Or does is just add good smells to a bad smell room?

As far as I can tell, my experience has been that it neutralizes the odors. But, it does have its own scent too. I can smell it when I enter the room, but it doesn't smell like it is just masking something else. So I guess it really does both.

Q: How many come in the "pack of one?" The image shows four, but the wording doesn't match.

The image of a package of four is wrong. I last ordered these this past June and the choices I had were one for $11.99 or three for $15.47. Of course, I picked the three for less than half the price of the single package, each. The items arrived as three single units in a small box, not as four on a card as in the image you referenced. Some vendor may sell the package of four, but the one or three pack choices were the only ones I saw.
