Excellent sturdy transfer pole with grab bar, even works on carpet without damaging ceiling.
Our elderly aunt surely needed these, wish we would have gotten them earlier while she still had more strength... Put one next to the bed, near her favorite chair and the toilet ... work well for as long as she can. We have 8' foot tall ceilings, which is the minimum height for these poles, only have to raise and tighten them a couple inches before secure contact is made. Swiveling grab bars is handy, literally. Pretty easy to move around as needed, I tightened them in place just eyeballing being level and straight. Hand tightened using wrench tool until firm, grabbed pole and shook heavily to make sure secure, retighten a day later to allow for settling on carpet. No need to even make sure the top is underneath beams of the ceiling, plenty secure without damage. Pole isn't going anywhere.PROS:- Much better than a straight poles with no handles sticking out to grab onto.- Fits common 8' foot height ceiling minimum.- Easy assemble, Easy to tighten using included wrench. Doesn't need to be so tight you wreck your ceiling, is very secure with medium tension.- Works on carpet and rugs, no problem, just re-tighten after a few hours of settling.- No need to align with ceiling beams, width distributes weight securely.- Sturdy, heavy and well built, can easily handle elderly weight (120 lbs - 200 lbs) and more with no slipping of pole once adjusted tightly and firm.- Also good for hanging things off the grab bar next to bed.- Much better price new than medical supply store.CONS:- None really, would be nice if the grab bar could adjust up and down but it's not really necessary is it's set at a pretty good heigh for most situations and helping from sit to stand.

This is the one you want
I love it! Super sturdy and secure. Great design. A few things to know: you do not need to bolt to the ceiling (the video of someone tugging on it is for real, the tension apparatus is super strong.) This will absolutely fit a lower ceiling just by removing a part. (We almost returned it before discovering this). If using for tub entry, you will need to have a shower curtain on each side of the grab bar. This is worth every penny for the safety, security and ease of installation without damaging ceiling or floor.

Well built. Very sturdy.
This is a life saver for anyone needing help getting up. Easy to install. Easy to move where needed. In our case, grab bars were not an option for installation, this was the answer.

1) Small footprint for tight spaces or close to a wall 2) The rotatable grab bar is firmly affixed.
We've primarily used this pole to provide a grab bar in front of the toilet so the elderly can align themselves between the loop-style grab bar and the toilet for a confident seating experience. The elderly appreciated this approach. For us, it reduces the number of backward steps they take and reduces dependence on other grab bars behind the person with limited mobility. Of course, the grab bar rotates out of the way for those who have cleaning or construction duties. Two great things about the design that others may not have:A) The small footprint at the bottom is smartly paired with an I-shaped mount at the top. It allows the pole to be placed close to a wall or in a tight space by a toilet.A2) The I shape of the mount above gives extra confidence that a) one can orient it to the rafters in the ceiling and crank on the jack screw without punching through the ceiling and b) when it comes time to become semi-permanent, one can screw the pole into a ceiling rafter for long-term confidence that the pole won't likely "walk" out of place after many tugs and bumps on the pole.B) Unlike others, this grab bar is securely attached to an outer cylinder surrounding the pole (it might be welded). Other poles have grab bars only held in place by friction between a screw-based clamp. I had one of those types of handles work loose. It's almost offensive how competitor's clamps don't offer even a simple pin to hold the bar in place as a backup should the clamp screw loosen. We've moved this pole and others multiple times to adjust to changing needs during experiments, construction, etc. It worked well in a transfer seat experiment. It has been great to have such an easy way to relocate it. We've used other poles like this near chairs which offer stability during standing and seating squat exercises.Tips and an unanswered question:a) When relocating the pole, the bottom foot falls off. Just put a (clear) piece of tape around that bottom tube seam and that seeming oversight is eliminated.b) It's not clear if a person in a walker could easily pull the knob and swing the grab bar out of the way to pass by. It's easy for those with normal mobility, but simultaneously reaching low, pulling a knob, and swinging the bar might be too much of a leaning distraction for those who depend on a walker. In our case, we have enough grab bars that the walker is meant to be left outside the bathroom to avoid making backward steps.

Easy way to add some safety
This came in a few pieces, but everything goes together very easily. There is only one tool required (a wrench) and that comes with the package. It installed in about 10 minutes and feels pretty solid. This will give my mom one extra area to grab on if she needs it. I'm happy so far. I will update this review if I run into any problems.

Flexible and Strong
I bought two of these recently as "open box" items to get a discount. I had done this once before and the boxes were in good condition. This time, one of the boxes was two boxes taped together. It was left by UPS by the door and one end was completely busted open. I later found a washer laying in the driveway. Luckily the product was not damaged and still appears to be working great. I highly recommend this product as it is flexible and very strong.

very sturdy
This item is very sturdy and was easy to install. It is great for my wife to get in and out of the tub and I think it works better than grab bars and is much easier to install.
