Works well but comcast is PITA
I received this modem to replace a much older one. I hooked it all up and attempted to contact comcast to hook it in to their system. Here is where things got frustating. I called the number in the documentation and after getting bounced around from automated support area to automated support area I was told to power off for 10 seconds and power it back up and then recontact Comcast. Which I did. As I was waiting I opened a browser and there was a page for comcast to get their mobile app for my cell phone. So I installed the app. Long story shortened after 15 minutes of going through the app they connected me with customer support. Mind you all of this is being done in text on the phone. I hate texting at the best of time. SHould only be used if your partner needs you to pick up milk on your way home from work 30 minutes later they said it would take 30-45 minutes for the system to recognize the modem and I should expect a call in an hour from comcast. This was 2:35pm. Well, 75 minutes later things were finally working. By 9pm I still hadn't received any phone call. I do not fault Arris for this. There product appears to work well. Much stronger wi-fi signal in the house so no complaints there. In conclusion A+ for the Arris modem. D-/F for Comcast/Xfinity tech support. Money value also A+. I won't and can't fault the product for Comcast's bad tech support.

Fast delivery for sure
Never hooked it up. Staying with Xfinity modem. Going to sell this one to get money back. Not a bad product just not ready for all new set up.

Buyer beware - 100% xFinity operated. Buy Netgear for more user control.
I've been hearing nothing but good things about Arris Surfboards for years now, and decided to get one for a temporary move. I didn't realize that when Arris says "compatible with xFinity" what they mean is "the exact same level of control as proprietary xFinity gateway hardware. I was under the impression I'd be able to set my own DNS, my own wifi control, my own cable modem functions. Nope, as soon as I registered with xFinity, they flashed their software onto the modem and I was locked out of 90% of the options I wanted to control. If you want a device that will give you the greatest amount of control over your home internet, this is not it. I repeat, this is not the device you want if you want control of your network. Arris products are apparently completely beholden to xFinity and their onboard software. Look elsewhere.

Easy set up with my Xfinity services
I dreaded the set up for this because I am not tech savvy at all and just knew there was going to be an issue, but guess what I was WRONG. I was able to link this to my xfinity service using the xfinity account app after putting in the wifi information located on the outside of the box. The set up kept my previous names wifi and password and I didn't have to make any changes to any other device in the home. It was seamless and the service is no different maybe slightly better than what I had with the Xfinity box. This would have recieved 5 stars, but I had to return the 1st box because ethernet ports 1 and 2 were both obviously damaged. The return was super easy though

Refurbished unit worked perfectly for high speed Xfinity internet with phone.
I wanted an Xfinity compatible modem / router to avoid renting one for $15 per month. The Arris Surfboard SVG2482AC was one of 3 models listed by Xfinity for our internet plan (600 MB/s download speed, plus digital telephone. I selected a refurbished unit for $129 and it arrived in one day with Prime shipping. Everything was packaged as if new. Besides the cable modem, it came with the power supply, coax and ethernet cables. I was able to set up everything using the quick start guide and authenticate the service from the startup web page on my ethernet connected laptop. This model was rated for up to a gig download speed, although the description said it was certified for 600 mb/s by Xfinity. The speed test gave over 700 on ethernet and about 350 on wifi nearby. I tested at different ranges at both ends of the large ranch, and in the basement, and it still got over 50 at the far end in the basement, so the wifi range is pretty good with my laptop. It comes with 2 phone and 4 ethernet ports. I plugged in two generic old phones and they worked fine for both incoming and outgoing calls. Very happy that this refurbished unit performed exactly as specified for my requirements.

CAUTION WHEN PURCHASING A REFURBISHED ARRIS MODEN/ROUTER ON AMAZON!!!
Don't get me wrong, this is a great product. I had purchased one almost two years ago and it worked flawlessly until a recent electrical storm which took out the Arris Surfboard modem/router. This, of course, knocked out all of our internet, WiFi, etc. I ordered a "refurbished" unit from Amazon on Friday, July 30, 2021, and Amazon delivered it the very next day; great service! I phoned technical support at Arris for help in installing the replacement unit as it is not a "plug 'n play". They requested the unit's serial number which I provided. They said that they were sorry, but the warranty on that unit had expired. I explained that it was a refurbished unit that carried a warranty and that I had also purchased an extended warranty. They said that I had two options: 1. send in proof of purchase and wait for a few days for them to verify it, or 2. pay them a $39.95 "out of warranty" technical support fee for their help! I talked to supervisors and got the same lame answer. I immediately sent in the proof of purchase, but told them I refused to pay their fee which, when added to the purchase price, would almost equal a brand new unit. I then spent over an hour and a half on the phone with Comcast/Xfinity's technical support. The didn't have to help as this was my unit and not a rental unit from their company, however and to their credit, they stuck with me and, together, we figured it out. Alas, on August 6, 2021, EIGHT DAYS after I initially spoke to Arris' Technical Support, I received an email from them stating that they had received my proof of purchase and that they were "glad to inform you that your warranty has be updated, if you still need support..."! Their Customer Service department is the pits!!! 'Good thing Comcast/Xfinity actually gives a flip or we would have been out of luck for eight days waiting on Arris to get their act together!!
