So far so good.
This is my first time buying a lyre. First of all I want to say it came two days early which I was delighted with. I'm not positive about the sound it seems a little tinny to me probably because it has metal strings. I have watched a couple of videos on YouTube where people were using this same instrument and it sounded really good and so that's why I opted to buy one with these metal strings. Now I'm not quite so convinced that the metal is the best way to go. The reviews I read on this site seem to be really good so that is why I opted to purchase this item. I've read on other reviews for other lyres on Amazon that people had problems with the pigs staying tight. This instrument seems to be good and solid the pigs don't seem to be slipping. I've only had it 3 days now and it's starting to already stay in tune. I will let you know further information as I learned to play it. I'm delighted with the instrument. It did have a couple of blemishes on the wood but I'm going to live with it versus sending it back. Because I don't want to wait to get a new one. I would like to include that the instructions are difficult because it says to just use an app to tune the instrument it doesn't give you an idea of an app that you can go to or a way to use the app. I did figure it out after watching quite a few YouTube videos and banging my head against the wall for a while. It's too bad that there's not more videos out there showing how to tune or at least the companies that are selling the instrument don't create a video or send a tuner with the instrument even if it was to cost more money. Once I did figure out the downloaded app it worked well but wrapping my head around what it meant was quite a chore because I may beginner.

Adorable!
I received it in great condition and earlier than expected. It looks more beautiful in person than on Amazon. I went on youtube to find a quick video on how to tune and what it should sound like. The key is gentleness when tuning. It was quite easy and I've been playing it all evening. I definitely recommend. I am a beginner and have negative music knowledge.

I'm Happy with Purchase
I'm happy with my purchase . The carrying case is great also , along with the tuner tool . It's a nice instrument to play and learn . Unlike a guitar which I have , there's no fret board to learn here . Just pluck or strum on the strings of your desired note and play .

Loved it and am enjoying it so much.
Its beautiful craftiness in size, color, and wood choice. It sounds beautiful , but it came untuned and I didn't know if I could tune it, but I have a battery operated tuner and I successfully tuned it by myself, I am a very proud owner of the beautiful instrument. I intend to play it for our local nursing home residents. It is easy to play, too.

great beginners instrument and great instrument in general
The media could not be loaded. i receive my lyre 2 weeks ago in pristine condition, i unpack it try it out nice tone and nice woodsy smell if that from the mahogany wood it was construction from. i choose the ocarina winds lyre because of the price and the enclose soundbox and the design motif the fact what was included in with lyre extra strings the cloth and manual. the reason i gave 4 stars two reasons first was the cheap strings i prefer roosebeck strings or other quality strings i'm a stickler come to my music instructments second reason is some of the string pins was too far out for my liking i screw them more sorry . its personality quirk beyond that its very nice instrument reason i brought it to play the house of the rising sun i needed a lyre with a bigger range than ten 10 notes. please understand im some what hash because i built 3 6 string anglo saxon lyres from solid oak hand sawed sanded built, the last one was magnum opus i was exacting forgive me. the video is me playing the lyre song house of the rising sun

Very hard to tune, cute enough to keep
Very hard to tune, the knobs are very sensitive. The look is not the same as the picture, the wood color is better but there is a gold plate instead of the eyelets for the strings to come through, which I do not like. Three strings broke while tuning meaning they have sat on the instrument for a long time in a shop or such. It is probably the samish quality of the others flooding the market so *shrug* just don't expect it to look the same or be easy.
