Unassuming but incredibly impressive
I found out about the HyperX ChargePlay Clutch via youtube and was fascinated by the value proposition this product offers. I myself have a launch version of the Switch meaning that portable battery life is acceptable but not ideal at 2-3 hours for me depending on the game. But rather than upgrading to the latest SKU Model of Switch, I wanted to give this a try as I've found myself playing in Portable mode more than docked these days. And after doing a bit of research and reading available reviews online I decided to take the plunge.Pros:- Very Sturdy, the build quality is nice- Ergonomic design, it's quite comfortable in the hands (*Weight aside, I'll talk about that in the cons)- Secure and Stable once attached, no wobble or anything of that nature- Extends the Switch's battery life when playing long sessions in portable mode- Versatility, Has a beefy kickstand in the back and the handles on either side of this case can be turned into a controller accessory when the joycons are attached.- LED Indicators in the back to let the user know the battery life of the case- USB-C port in a non-intrusive part of the back in order to charge the case while continuing to play (If that situation arises)- Cutouts on the case that don't block off the ventilation areas of the console on the back and top for airflow- Low profile design aside from a bit of HyperX branding which is to be expectedCons:- It makes the Switch noticeably heavier, I can't really fathom playing something where gyro controls are heavily used like in Splatoon 2 for long periods of time with this on. It's not impossible, but I'm sure it would get uncomfortable after awhile. However that's more of a nitpick and may vary from person to person. I'd rather this be a bit heavy and sturdy than flimsy and weak.- It adds a surprising amount of bulk to the Switch which can be a good or bad thing depending on the person. This can be a negative in that if you already have a case, more than likely this won't allow you to fit your console inside it if you wanted to carry it all together instead of the accessory and Switch separately. I'm sure there are many solutions to this, but it's worth mentioning. *Roughly the size of the Wii-U Gamepad when attached to the console.Overall I think this is a must-buy accessory aside from a screen protector and a pro controller. More so for people that game a lot in portable mode whether that be just at home or on-the-go. The extra battery life and build quality alone is worth the price of admission, though having the sturdy kickstand, LED Battery life indicator, and pseudo-controller utility is great as well. I'm excited to put this to work once Animal Crossing: New Horizons comes out.I'll update this review in a years time to let you know if any of my opinions on this product have changed.Update (3/2/21):The charge is still holding up really well, and the product itself is in really good condition. Granted I haven’t really traveled with it (not that I could given the current times). Overall I'm happy I purchased this and feel like I’ve already gotten my money’s worth from a year ago. I've already had my fill of Animal Crossing, but will definitely be using this a lot again once Monster Hunter Rise releases towards the end of this month. I’m a pretty big MH fan and will without a doubt pour countless hours into this coming title. Glad the Switch is finally getting a MH built from the ground up catered to the platform and it's hardware.

Comfortable and Useful!
I hardly write review but I needed to on this one to give props to HyperX for creating the most comfortable grip for the switch that I've used in addition to extra battery life it provides. Solidly built with some nice features; sturdy kick stand, joycon grips come off to form a controller for table top playing, and a clip to hold the switch in place. I can get an additional 4+ hours of play time using this which is great since I do not have the updated switch model with better battery life. The whole thing adds a bit of heft to the switch, but not too much in my opinion to make it uncomfortable. I previously owned the Satisfye grip and this thing blows that one out of the water in sheer quality and comfort. Would highly recommend this charging case!

Love it!
This is exactly what I've been looking for. I've wanted a battery pack to extend my play as well as grips to help with holding the Switch for long periods of time. This does both very well. Taking the grips off and using them to hold the joycons while the switch is still attached to the battery pack and kickstand it great! The grips feel better than the grip that comes with the switch. It ends up being a little wider and that feels great to my hands. There is only two disadvantages I see. One, this pretty much makes it so the switch wont fit in any case you may have. Now I've not does a lot of looking so there may be one out there that this fits. That being said, if you get a screen protector the HyperX would protect the rest of the switch pretty good. Second, I wouldn't recommend taking the grips off and playing with just the battery pack attached. The battery is heavy and having that stress on the joycons by themselves may break something. Although that might be me being over cautious.

Is it worth it?
Extremely good for extending your battery life dramatically. It does have its drawbacks though. 1) This thing literally doubles the weight of the switch(as expected since battery banks can be pretty heavy), so take that into consideration if you want to buy this product. And 2) there is another product out there that’s actually cheaper that does the same thing and can actually hold a few games as well although it is from a less widely known brand so is quality may be inferior. All in all though the price is steep, the quality of the product and the comfort it adds to the switch, it’s well worth it.

Good battery life, very comfortable, but heavy
The handheld grips make the controllers very comfortable when detached from the switch. It’s very noticeably heavier when using handheld but the extra battery life and the charging port being moved to the back of the device make it worth getting. I don’t keep it on all the time but when it’s on it’s more comfortable using the joy-cons as a controller with the additional grips compared to the joy-con controller grip Nintendo makes.

Love But . . .
So I absolutely love this thing. It feels great and adds soo my time to the play. Great for road trips. Another fancy little thing, if your short on charging cords, you can dock the switch in it and charge both the switch and the grips with one cord.Honestly, the only thing I have been having issues with is finding a nice sized case that will fit both the grips with the switch inside it. I have bought several cases and none fit the way I would like and I'm not sure if Hyperx makes a case for this. I ended up using a large switch docking set case and store everything in there but I would love something like the slim case.

Stop looking elsewhere, GET this
I looked over many extended batteries and this by far is the best one. Great manufacturer which means great quality. The use of the grips on and off the unit makes it versatile as well. I like the ideas knowing that in handheld mode the weight isn’t straining the screen since the grips are magnetized and providing additional balance on the device. Great extended battery about 4.5 hour on top of the Switch’s battery. Overall great design awesome form, great kickstand, stellar grips. If you’re contemplating stop looking and get this because you’re getting the best.
