Q: Do you have to assemble lamp shade?

The lamp shade does not need to be assembled. You just have to sit it on top of the little metal piece above the lightbulb and screw the circular metal piece on. Takes 1 minute.

Q: Could anyone give me the measurements of the base of the lamp?

The base height is 12 1/4” and the diameter is approx 8”. The bottom that sits on the table is 6”. I love these lamps!!

Yes an led bulb will work with this lamp provided the led has the same bulb base and is designed for the same voltage as an incandescent bulb

I’m no expert, but first I’d dust it, so any surface dust that may be clinging to it makes the smudge worse when I wet it. Then I’d first take a clean white rag, wet it with water and see if that works. If it doesn’t, wait for it to dry, take a clean, dry white rag, wet it with 409 or similar all purpose cleaner. First rub it on the bottom of the inside rim, where the cloth folds into the wire retainer, to see if it makes the color run. If it doesn’t, rub the rag with the 409 on the smudge. If will probably work. Good luck!
