Great for painting
This pen is amazing! Originally brought it to black out some lettering but decided not to, so it just sat there waiting to be used. Decided to just try it out to see how it looks on plastic and it works great. Not nice and uniform like spray paint but still looks good and pretty much no need to mask anything off.I store my pen in two ziplock bags to keep the air out and hopefully preserve the brush without having to wash it out.

This paint chips off easily. The plastic was painted flat black over chrome ...
Doesn't adhere well to the plastic on the grille of my car where road debris chipped it. This paint chips off easily. The plastic was painted flat black over chrome finish, so that may be the problem.

Kinda dissappointed...bought for etching project
Probably not fair that I'm only givong 2 stars because the paint pen does emit paint properly. I purchased "enamel" paint specifically as a resist for salt water bath etching with electrical current. The erching worked well but the paint did not hold up to the salt water bath as expected. Iveused enamel spray paint and it performed just fine. This is why i thought the pen should have performed better.

It works
Purchased this item for touch-up to hobby items and miscellaneous other uses. When first using this pen, follow the instructions and shake well for thirty seconds or more.Popping the cap, you'll find a bright yellow felt-like tip. Carefully applying pressure on the tip will push it into the body, this apparently applies a 'pumping' effect to start the paint flowing. Be careful at this point, I found it was very easy to pump too much paint into the tip. This results in a very heavy flow onto the intended surface. Because the flow can become too heavy from over-enthusiatic pumping, I have taken to storing this pen in a cup or pen holder, point up.Application is simple and somewhat precise, but as the tip frays from use it becomes less precise. The tip also seems to deform when replacing the cap.I have applied the paint on various surfaces and it seems to adhere well. The paint is very flat matte, it does not reflect light at all and dries very quickly. There is a very strong odor during use and a well-ventilated area is advised.I have not yet attempted to see how well this paint, after application, stands up to abuse (does it scratch easy?), washings (contact with water) or contact with other chemicals (oils, etc).

Just what I needed
I had used this product for many years to touch-up the paint on Gilbert American Flyer S Gauge Operating and Repair Guide (Volume 1) steam engines. When my original marker ran out of paint, I tried to find a replacement in a local store, but it was no longer carried there. Thank goodness for Amazon and their network of sellers! I got the paint marker quickly and now I'm back in "business" fixing more of these great trains.

Flat black in a pen
These markers are hard to find in certain colors. They work well, last for years and are convenient. Just note, they are not fine point, more like a chisel point.
