The No-Cry Potty Training Solution: Gentle Ways to Help Your Child Say Good-Bye to Diapers: Gentle Ways to Help Your Child Say Good-Bye to Diapers Review: Best parenting books and author I've encountered - This book and this series has helped me in so many ways. I started out my journey with the No Cry Sleep Solution as a overly tired family. At the time my son was nursing and co sleeping. After reeding this book I quickly learned what was "normal" sleep and what I should expect from my little man. I have never been a fan of the "cry it out" method. I've always thought that babies cry for a reason and a tiny being so young could not possibly be trying to manipulate the situation, instead he was crying for his needs to be met. He just needed to be understood and feel safe. My goal when getting this book was to get more sleep!! Simple right? With in seriously a few weeks of using the tips and tricks in this book my son was down to two night nursings and sleeping in his own crib. I'm not saying that it will be that easy for every person and every baby, but it works very well for us. I refer back to this book on a regular basis whenever my son has troubles sleeping. The thing I really love about the way it is written is that I truly gave me confidence. The confidence to do and know what I already felt in my heart. This book helped me so much that I have almost all of the series. I have The No Cry Discipline Solution, The No Cry Picky Eater Solution (currently reading and love love love it!), The No. Cry Potty Training Solution, and Perfect Parenting. I honestly would love the entire series of every book she writes! The most touching thing tho was when, on a whim, I emailed Elizabeth. I was having trouble with taking my two year olds pacifier and couldn't find a lot on this in the books I have. She actually emailed me back. Her, herself emailed me back giving me some really great information on gently taking the Paci. I was so incredibly touched that as an author she truly cares about the families she is writing for. I can't say enough good things about this author and her books. I recommend all of them!! Review: Very helpful. - This was a very good book. A lot of common sense information that goes well with the potty training process. It's easy to use, doesn't go into more detail than it needs to -- just the basics. I found the Q&A section at the back to be useful, but they could have more examples, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. The potty readiness quiz is great and would highly recommend if your child is showing signs of interest but you're not quite sure. Also, there's a great section in here about reminding the parents of their need to be patient even before the process begins.

Potty Training Advice with No Gimics
My child is showing signs that she's ready to potty train, so we were looking for a book about how to introduce it and how to determine whether or not she is "ready" (whatever ready is). This book delivers this kind of information with no gimics. This book is a great choice if you are getting ready to start potty training, were going to buy a single potty training book, and you weren't interested in subjecting your child to the "potty train in one day" philosophies. There is an extensive quiz to help you gauge how ready you and your child are for potty training. Although quizzes are usually more than a little pointless, I was surprised to find this one helpful.

Great Book
I bought this book just as i was starting to potty train my 2 1/2 year old son. I loved this book and the great advise. I think the kind and gentle ways to approach potty training helped keep stress levels at a minimum and reminded me that I should enjoy this process too. My son loved all the pictures of the kids going potty and it helped him see that lots of other kids his age were doing this too. He is an only child so this was very helpful for us. We are now 2 weeks into potty training and my son has had 2 accidnets and is completely diaper free... even at night.

Nothing new
I bought this mainly for the potty training readiness quiz, but it wasn't anything new. I feel like you can find all this info online without spending money or reading a whole book. Nothing wrong with it, I was just expecting something amazing after reading the reviews.

Flexible potty strategies
It's refreshing to have a potty learning book that doesn't lay out rigid guidelines. Instead, it takes into account the uniqueness of each child and family. Helpful & motivating.

Good Book, with excellent Tips
What makes this book good, is her reassuring and calming nature. She reiterates over and over, be calm, they will get it. I loved the suggestions- make up songs, read, if they get bored try another tool to keep their attention. I liked that she doesn't give timelines or make you feel like a failure. It's not a lot of hype or get dry quick schemes. I needed the book more for me than my little one.

Really great ideas!
Potty training is going in a much better direction for us now that I've read this book. We had already started and I had been feeling discouraged when I started reading. Her guidelines and ideas helped me streamline our process and we are making great strides. Highly recommended.

I love Elizabeth Pantley's approach - as soon as I read the first page of this book I knew it was the one for me, because its very gentle, yet very empowering too. What I find unique about Pantley's work is that she doesn't zero in on the child and getting them to do what you want ... She talks about the partnership between parent and child, the need for understanding, co-operation, using techniques and ideas that suit yours and your child's personality, as well as making learning these new skills fun. It was a real eye-opener reading the page which explained just how much you are asking your child to take on board when you embark upon potty training - no wonder so many other systems just don't work, because they treat potty training as an "event" rather than the inevitable learning process that it actually is. Using Pantley's readiness test, I began "pre-training" with my son many months before we actually went for the Active Training stage. And the results were fantastic - he just seemed to "get it" really quickly because we'd done the ground work together before hand. In just a few weeks I found I had a happy, confident and completely toilet trained little boy, and will definitely use this book again when my daughter becomes ready. Fantastic!

As usual E. Pantley helps parents to deal with kids issues and potty training does not seem so tricky anymore :)

This book can give you some ideas how to do the potty training. I got the idea from this book that put some wrapped gifts in a big transparent plastic container. And tell my daughter that when she is ready to go potty, I let her choose one surprise out from the container. And it works wonderfully so far. But I think the most important thing this book teaches me is patient.

A great book with lots of great ideas on how to initiate potty training and how to deal with problems when they arise once 'trained'! I was a bit sceptical as I really didn't like The No Cry Sleep Solutions and really didn't get on with any of her 'methods' but this book is great. I ordered it in desperation 6 weeks into training my 2.5 yr old daughter who had become v stubborn and refused to poo on the potty/toilet. She has some good ideas for solving these problems (am yet to find out if they work....!) but also having read the earlier chapters id really wished i'd read this before starting as she has some great ideas on how to make going to the potty 'fun' etc to encourage your child. Def recommended!
