Juan Sanchez de la Torre founded Sanchez Romate Hnos SA in 1781 in Jerez de la Frontera to produce fine wines. Two hundred and forty years later Sanchez Romate is one of the oldest bodegas in Spain and one of the few that remains in family hands. This has allowed it to maintain its independence and continue making wines in the same time-honoured fashion. Over the years their quality has been rewarded with appointments to the House of Lords and the Vatican.
