Truely an exellent troubleshooters on the job aid.
Although perhaps the average "Joe" could get by using this book, it leaves a lot of answers unsaid. This is because the tech using this manual is assumed to have some experience in troubleshooting. Maybe he's having a bad day, week, or a chassis, problem, this book is meant to help that person"see the tree for the forest".It covers all areas of the chassis in a logical order, and when multiple problems are the order of the day, it will help you to "weed" thru in a fast and logical order.

Quite helpful
Quite helpful, both in specific tips, and in general approach. I have kept it in my pc repair bag for my business for 5 years. It's still in there when I arrive onsite to a customer's location.

A good book for those familiar with the technical aspects of computer repair
This is not a book for those new to computers and/or computer repair. There's a LOT of technical terminology that I had to look up, but I'm don't consider myself a computer technician either. The flowchart layout is very logical and seems to address a wide variety of problems, though, thankfully, I haven't had a need to test it as of yet.

This Book Paid For Itself The First Time That I Had To Use It!
GREAT BOOK! This book paid for itself the very first time that I had to use it, when I changed my own hard drive in my desktop computer. When I put the computer back together, I couldn't get it to power on. I was so distressed after trying and trying to get it to power on, that I had arranged with someone to help me take the computer to Best Buy and get their Geek Squad to fix it. Then, I remembered that I had bought this book, and took a look at what it said. I opened the computer back up, and followed what it recommended, and the power came on as soon as I pushed the power button. So, this great book probably saved me a couple of hundred dollars, because I had to go to the motherboard and do some things. And, I had never done that before. So, if you are trying to fix a computer problem yourself, rather than pay those high prices for someone else to do it, buy this book!

If your computer is in trouble, this book can help.
Well structured. The cover and title tells all. The book leads you one-step at a time through the trouble-shooting flow chart sequence. The detail and explanations are presented as you work through the flow-charts. Rosenthal knows his subject and explains it well.

Nice little book
A really great guide to fixing or upgrading your home PC. They also offer a comparable book for working with a lap top too. Well though out and easily followed so troubleshooting is pretty simple and gives a definitive answer.Bob
