THE DANISH WAY OF PARENTING
T**I
A natural and holistic approach to parenting
I really loved this book and recommend it to anyone who takes care of a child. It is well researched and an easy read. It's not preachy, boring or too technical. Written by parents for parents about parenting. Very practical and in a way changes perspective about our own beliefs, attitudes, approach. I found many things applicable to me as well. Possibly this is how parenting was few centuries ago.

A useful parenting book
So, the Danes have been consistently voted the happiest people in the world. For the past 40 years! A lot has been studied about why this is so and a lot of research points to their parenting style. As the saying goes, 'child is the father of man ' . So happy, well adjusted children become happy well adjusted adults. The authors are connected to the danish way of life. One is an American who is married to a Dane while the other is a Danish psychologist. They have summed it up with the mnemonic PARENT.So, the secrets are:P- play time. More unstructured, the betterA- be authenticR- Reframing negative experiences so that they are taken in strideE- Empathy should be taughtN - No ultimatum.T- time togetherThis was my second parenting book. I think I have entered the rabbit hole.

A very good book
Everything was well written and we do so many mistakes without knowing how it effects the child. This book tells how to grow a happy child. I am trying to implement.

This book has changed my mindset to life not just parenting. I read it cover to cover in a few nights and normally I take months to get through books! Highly recommend! I’ve also bought for family and friends as I enjoyed it so much! It really made me think!

Fabulous book!
I checked this book out of our library so many times that I finally just bought my own copy. :) Thoughtful and insightful, this book has some great messages about going through life for anyone of any age, but giving your children the gift of being able to put life in a "Danish" perspective will certainly serve them well! Since I read this book for the first time a few years ago, I've seen my older kids shift their perspectives and being able to put the techniques into practice from the beginning with my younger kids, it's been amazing to watch them develop patience, tenacity, and empathy. I even find myself a happier person, communicating better, and with a kinder outlook towards the world after taking the messages in this book to heart and I often recommend it to others! It's a relatively short book as well and well laid out by the authors so it's easy to pick out the key points and refer back to it.
