Do not waist your money on this worthless product. Paint came off before the third hammer hit on wood. Product does not work.

The box says made in China - imported by a company in Ontario Canada. It is strong and nicely finished - we like it.

Q: Can this splitter be used without bolting it to an anchor. We do not have a wooden stump and don't know what type of anchor we could use.

Yes it can. I was using it on my garage floor with a rubber doormat under it (to keep it from sliding around and also reduce noise a bit). Then I had my wood delivery guy bring me a stump so I could have the splitter at a more comfortable height. But it works fine on the floor or ground.
