Q: Can this hone be used for chainsaw cylinders? Are these aluminum oxide?

Answer to Question No. 1: Yes, am SURE that Brush Research Flex-Hones CAN be used to hone chainsaw motor cylinder bores.....We use Flex-Hones for various operations in Our efforts to RE-build & restore 1930's & '40's "Vintage"-style, HIGH-Performance, Ford FlatHead-V8 engines, including: Our automotive machinist "Hones" cylinders in cast iron ENG blocks w/ Flex Hones, after actual cylinder boring. We hone lifter bores & valve bowls w/ Flex-Hones, and do final polishing of intake & exhaust runners, valve & exhaust ports, after doing initial "Porting" work with stones & burrs mounted on die-grinders & dremels--work which We do for Ourselves in Our own, private shop. Have also used Flex-Hones to polish MISC bores, of various sizes, in antique Ford cast iron cylinder heads (e.g.: Model A & B Distributor Housing ports), AND to polish venturi bores in cast iron bases of antique Ford Stromberg carburetors..... Answer to Question No. 2: Brush Research manufactures Flex-Hones w/ abrasive "balls" made of BOTH Aluminum AND Silicon Oxide, in a broad variety of "Grit" ratings/grades. I would STRONGLY SUGGEST contacting "Tech-Support" at Brush Research Co., tell a Technician what Your SPECIFIC project application is, type of metal You are working on, etc, Etc, and get THEIR recommendation(s) for either Aluminum Or Silicon Oxide, "Grit" grade to use, and so-on---AGAIN: Based on YOUR specific job/project application & requirements.
