Q: Is it large enough to put a kitchenaid mixer and bowl on?

The shelves have a rim around them so things can't roll off. The actual width of each shelf between these rims is 8 3/4 inches, so if your KitchenAid mixer is less than 8 3/4 inches wide, it should work.

Q: Can I use this without the wheels?

The wheels are plastic. Without them, it appears that the sturdy metal shelves could handle more weight, which the plastic might not. The shelves come with 8 end caps, 4 of which could be used on the bottom instead of the wheels.

Q: Will the shelves actually hold up to 150 lb each?

I have the shelves loaded down with supplies so I am sure that they can hold up to 150 lb each. The utility cart is very well made and I am very satisfied with this product. As a matter of fact I ended up purchasing 3 of them for the garage. The shelves are also adjustable which gives you more options.
