Therm-a-Rest Luxury Down Camping Mattress Coupler

This is really nothing more than a glorified mattress pad, so I can see where others would be frustrated at the price. It's expensive for what it is. I can buy a full-size mattress topper for about $29 that is comparable in quality. It does what it sets out to do, namely join two pads together. There is nothing more than a thin piece of webbing in the center to secure the pad, but it's sufficient at keeping the pads from spreading. The fit is very good around the pad, so I do not see these coming off in the middle of the night. The amount of padding is on par with other mattress pads, but a piece of half-inch padding would go a long way in making this a lot better. I may try to use a piece of 1 inch memory foam underneath this, which can be had for about $16.00. As it is, it does provide some degree of softness, but definitely leaves you wanting more.While expensive, I do not know of any other alternative, so it's a keeper for me.

LOVE this coupler. Used it with two therm-a rest self inflating pads which fit perfectly inside. I bought the Long or large as my bf is 6'3 and he had plenty of room. Best night sleep we have had while camping, this is a far superior alternative to the old air mattress we used to lug around. Very light weight and takes up just a tiny amount of space. The down isnt ultra plush but it did the job and kept us warm!

Did realize that this could actually be used as a sheet. it packs up small and works to hold two mattresses together. Also has snaps to attach the original thermarest blankets

While I really love this system for backpacking, I am still trying to make sure I’m not stuck in the crack between pads. This helps but I’ve still fallen thru a couple nights. This with the pads and down quilt kept us warm camping when temps were in the teens at night. Good system just need to mind the gap.

I expected a thick goose down pad that would connect my two mats. This turned out to be a $100 fitted sheet with cut outs for the air stems. No thanks.

Works well to couple and reasonably lightweight. Just be aware this is very thin. You won't get much more cushion then a coupling sheet.

This makes 2 base camp size L Thermarests feel like a full size mattress! It eliminates the 'cold spot' often felt by couples seeking to sleep next to one another when the individual sleeping match creep apart with normal tossing and turning.

After a bad camping trip where my fiancé slid all around the tent(in a double sleeping bag.. so I went along for the ride), I decided to purchase him a thermarest mat and this coupler for Christmas. It fits the mats perfectly, and keeps them attached and stable without adding bulk to your trip. It packs up small and even adds a tiny bit of warmth and softness to your mats, though it is not substantial and should not be purchased to add more comfort. I use a luxurymap mat and love the comfort of it even on its own. This won't really work with any other brand of mat, but will work with any thermarest mats of the same size (we both have larges, though in different lines).

Great for car camping, might be a little bulky for backpacking. But it added a great extra insulating layer and kept our sleeping pads in place.

This is an expensive system, but it is worth it. I have gone through so many of the inflatable mattresses that their cumulative costs make this the cheaper alternative.
