Seymour Duncan Everything Axe Strat Pickup Set - White

I upgraded my 15+ year old Fender Mexican Strat with these pickups at the same time I updated the wiring, 5 way switch and (CTS) pots. The new pickups are by far the best investment made to this guitar. No compromise on the Strat tone and got a whole lotta quiet as a plus. The lack of noise is not just a benefit to when you're not playing, it makes the tone overall have more clarity when you are playing. My Mexi Strat had old ceramic pickups that had a pretty hot output. The new pickups were a little hotter, but not as much as I had hoped for. This. They might be hotter than newer Mexi/Asian starts that might be using cheaper components. I use my this guitar as one of several in a home stud environment as well as some live playing. Only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.

This is a very versitile set.The bridge pup is perfect for rythm. It's very harmonic rich, bright and dynamic.The neck pup is perfect for lead: warm and full.The middle pup is a little "out", IMO. It's more blues driven.. but the output is a little "low". On the other hand, you can get a really nice blues tone if you mix it with the bridge pup (second position).They are really, really nice.I used it to get my Brazilian Fender ('93 Southern Cross) back to life.It's perfect for playing Bush, RHCP, Smashing Pumpkins and the like...

These are in-fact very versatile pickups. The JBjr bridge is a bit dark, but can be split for a more sparkling single coil tone. The Duckbucker middle is a nice even tone, very single coil-like, and seems to aid in getting quack out of positions 2 and 4. The Lil59 has a full PAF-like tone and sits well in the neck position. I have a lot of Strats, intentially with different pickup combinations (a hobby) and to see what I prefer. For me, this Everything Axe is great if you do not have many guitars and want versatility, but keep in mind you will lose some characteristic single coil Strat tone. I'd prefer an HSS, as a full humbucker has a more rounded tone, and of course the HSS utilizes true single coils in the neck and middle to maximize the characteristics of the Strat. I am generally not a fan of any bridge pickup in a Strat, but I think either the JBjr, or a split-able full size humbucker (e.g.,Fender Double Tap) with single coils in neck and middle is a better compromise.
