Q: Everybody is saying this is roasted, if it is roasted then it can not be raw!!! And one review said it was stems not roots?

Hello this particular product is Chicory Root RAW cut and sifted so you are correct. They do make a similar product that is Chicory root roasted granules, perhaps this is what they are referring to. Hope this helps.

Q: Do i have to roast it and grind it myself?

It's already roasted. I don't know if it has been ground, but it has been processed in a way that makes it ready to use. I use it the same way I would use loose tea. One teaspoon makes a very good tasting cup.

Q: how do you eat it? what does it taste like? can you add it in smoothie and blend it?

It's been awhile, but as I remember, when it's fresh it has a mild flavor and was a nice little snack to chew on. Otherwise, I did put it in my Vitamix with other things and I also put it in with other herbs to make tea. My girlfriend liked to eat it. Hope that helps.

Q: Anybody found a good way to grind it? I've tried it in a coffee/spice grinder and blender. The former is better, but still doesn't come out fine.

I steep it like tea, it works great and taste great too.
