Highly Reliable and Utterly Useful
I have had two of this product over the last 15 years, and purchased (and am now using) the second for the last several years, just in case....since the first had been in use for so long. During that 15 years, I have used the product in the two homes I have owned during that time. In the first home, I used the device to control the single furnace/air conditioner unit for the home. In my present, and second home during the last 15 years, I use it to control one heating/cooling zone.In all cases, the unit has operated faultlessly, just as advertised, and VERY usefully! It has been fully reliable in several aspects: first, and most importantly, it has not failed to operate(!); second, it has absolutely followed whatever programming I have entered to maintain heating, cooling, or a combination thereof of temperature control; and third, it has ALWAYS functioned flawlessly in maintaining the proper signal connection with its associated receiving device, no matter its distance from that device over the years up to a distance of 60 feet. Its reliable transmitting distance may well be greater than that, but I have never had the need to operate it more than 60 feet from its receiver. Further, at NO time has it evidently failed to function properly as the result of spurious radio frequency signals interference from other devices operating generally in the same frequency spectrum (I have a myriad of devices transmitting such signals, including over 100 X-10 channels, and remote theater, and similar controls, as well as, of course, wi-fi). Fortunately for me, my bedroom, office, computer/video editing suite, and one other location are in the zone it controls - as a result, no matter where I go, the temperature is always within +/- 1 degree of what I wish!

3 degree off and won't caliberate
I have same issue as other customer describe that is 3 degree off. My 7 years old Venstar having problem losing batteries with in 2 days and bought the new one and it is 3 degree off from my old Venstar as well as other thermostats and won't calibrate.Returning bad one that is 3 degree off and ordering new let see what will happen.

Works great, needs a brighter display
Would have been five stars but the display is not very bright or readable. But the product does just what it says it will do. I use it in my upstairs guest room/bonue room so guests can take it with them into the bedroom to keep it comfortable. The original hardwired thermostat was in a poor location making the bedroom too hot or too cold and this was easier than runing new wiring. This product of course requires the wireless receiver which also works just fine

Proud to be the first to review this great device!
I have owned the Venstar (Was Totaline) wireless system for over two years now. I recently purchased my third and final Sender unit for my home.I mounted my receiver near my furnace in the basement. The wiring was simple. It literally connected like any other thermostat. The instructions were clear and it was very simple to understand. Once the receiver was installed, setting up the sender was cake.Setting up this unit was a breeze. I now have three senders (one for each floor of the house). I chose one as the "master" that received the programming. The other two are slaves on the system so when a user needs to make an adjustment, they just set it and it overrides the other units. It's genius!Be warned: It establishes a social complexity. You will be fighting with your significant other more often now as each floor represents its own battle over who is cold/warm! he he...Otherwise, these are great units. My house is 100 years old with a modern heat system. The wireless goes from the 2nd story all the way to the basement with no hesitation. It's been over two years and I have not had to replace the battery in any of the sender units! Wow!I am very happy with this system and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who is considering multi-channel wireless units.

It is a OK product, but a bit pricey
For the Ventstar wireless thermostat to work, you need to buyat least one transmitter and one receiver,so you are looking at $200+ minimum.I purchased this in 2008.Residential ReceiverThis review is based on my experience after four months of use.For the most part, the basic function works.I would be much happier if improvements are made in the following areas:1) The transmitter is too bulky. If the size can be reduced by 50%it would look much better.2) For a $200 product, I expects a higher grade plastic casing. The current plastic casing is a bit too cheap looking for my taste.3) The receiver some time missed the command sent from thetransmitter. It will eventually catch up, but the delay is annoying. This seem to get worse if the I use a 'house code' higher than zero.(zero is the default 'house code')This is a big issue for me. If the link between the transmitterand receiver is more reliable, user experience will improve a lot.4) It lacks the support for 'integrated air quality' system. If you have a air purifier installed with the furnace, you can notset up a separate time schedule just for the fan.5) The user interface is a pain to program. This is mainly becausetransmitter has only 5 buttons on it. Each button has to servemultiple functions. I like the user interface of the Luxprothermostat _much_ better. (Luxpro does not have a wireless model, however) This problem can be solved if Venstar iswilling to add more buttons.
