Motorized shutter switches IR Filter in and out based on Camera LED or Python script
Works great, I included one daylight picture with IR filter in place, one night picture without IR filter - but has a bright light illuminating the left side of the picture- you can still see the IR LEDs affect on the right side of the picture. Then a night picture that was using a bright light to cover a larger area where a mouse was caught on camera!. For me, the IR LEDs light up to about 7 feet away and about 6 feet wide. I am using a Raspberry Pi 3B+ running motionEyeOS. I also made sure to get a fast microSDHC card so the camera images/movies could be written fast enough. I got this: "SanDisk Extreme Pro microSDHC Memory Card Plus SD Adapter up to 100 MB/s, Class 10, U3, V30, A1-32GB SDSQXCG-032G" That 32GB has plenty of space for me, I also configured motion to upload the movies to Google Drive, and I configured the pictures so that they are being sent to my email whenever motion is detected outside of the "working hours" I set. What is motionEyeOS? "motionEyeOS is a Linux distribution that turns a single-board computer into a video surveillance system. The OS is based on BuildRoot and uses motion as a backend and motionEye for the frontend." No hardware changes or adjustments were required. You can use the Camera LED where "on" causes the IR Filter to be in place (day mode) and "off" causes the IR filter to be removed (night mode). Another option is to use the Python library or run the library as a standalone script (that is what I am doing). Right now I am using CRON to switch between day and night modes at set times, but I may change to a script to do it based on sunrise/sunset later. I got the Python script named CameraLED. From the documentation on Github: ============================== $ sudo ./CameraLED.py Usage: ./CameraLED.py (state|toggle|on|off) $ sudo ./CameraLED.py state State: 0 $ sudo ./CameraLED.py toggle State: 1 $ sudo ./CameraLED.py toggle State: 0 $ sudo ./CameraLED.py on State: 1 $ sudo ./CameraLED.py off State: 0 ==============================

AWESOME!
This camera does actually need the heat sinks. The IR LEDs get extremely hot. I’ve tested this with a Zero W and a pi 3 B. It works very well. I was surprised at how high-quality the picture was. The lens also looks crystal clear and is low distortion. I don’t exactly know how to use the night vision, but I figure it’s pretty good.

Bad first impression
Box it came in was open, there were no ribbon cables actually in with it, camera and IR did not work at all. I was buying new and apparently they decided to ship in a used item instead that was missing parts.

Overall, a nice camera
Overall, a nice camera. I am using it in octoprint to monitor my mk3 3d printer. The auto IR cut didn’t work out of the box but once I set that up, it worked great. My daytime picture is great and the IR is pretty good as well. I have 2 other pi cameras and this one is the best!

Buy with the knowledge on how to navigate setting up a camera on a pi..
Took a long time as I am a novice...seller contacted me and tried to help...and with some time I got it to work with Raspberry pi zero and my comput module 4....now for programming its functions with python...I know seller doesnt say it is a plug and play device but I need to restate for the consumer that this is "Not" a plug and play device. Despite the small size, it does a great job!
I like that even if I'm a beginner in using a Raspberry Pi, I was able to toggle the camera ON or OFF. That was because the instruction leaflet contained all the information required. Even though I imagined the side lamps should make some light in the dark, after contacting their support, I was informed that those are IR LED's which are not visible to human eye. It's a product (and customer support) which I'm pleased of.

get a spare micro sd for camera use
dsylight use is great, pucture is clear. using with MotionEyeOs have a question with regards to the sudo command. the command which sudo does not show a path, cd to /usr/bin does not show sudo exist. there can load cameraled.py, this could be a question to motioneyeos but i thought i would ask it here as well since its a rasp pi, motioneyeos, arducam trio i thought i would ask it here. will update to 5 stars later, there must be an error on my part. fyi, when trying to unzip the .img.xz use gunzip on the mac osx10.10 from the terminal

Will the clicking EVER stop???
WOW - ok, first the good part. This is plug and play for a Raspberry Pi - just insert into the camera slot, enable the camera in the Pi Configuration and off you go. The picture is on part with what I expected, I never got to test the night vision - too much noise to make this unit usable in any situation. I swear - if I put this outside to watch/record my drive-way, all the clickely-klak will alart anyone out there to the device. Even if it takes good images, drawing attention to yourself in a moment like that is not a good idea. For my purpose of recording wild life, well no - not even an close to be workable. I'm not even sure what the clickely-klak comes from - it sounds like a relay. On the positive side, it does allow you to learn how to do video survaliance on the PI and play with easy night mode (which I haven't tested). It's easy to mount in what-ever enclosure you want to use/create. But I don't think this unit is for me - at least not this project. I'll try to find another way to do night-vision without using a relay.

Tried multiple raspberry pis of different varieties. Simply didn't work.

Good camera, solid day / night image quality for inside ussage. Works with Raspberry Pi, Bullseye revision of RPI Debian OS suggested. Works with Synology too.

Nothing to dislike - my son uses it via a Raspberry Pi to monitor his 3d printer - very robust product and clear image in the dark or light.

Ist am Zero nicht lauffähig - zu hoher Stromverbrauch. Umschaltverhalten Tag/Nacht nicht beeinflussbar.

The main camera board is square in shape and does not use the sizing found in the raspberry pi camera V1 or V2, making all cases and 3d printable cases completely incompatible. The IR Sensor trips at a reasonable light level but does so instantly with no delay, meaning if the light level "bounces" up and down at the current level you are going to hear a lot of clicking (think 20 or so times a second). This is controllable but requires code, wiring, and resistors to pull off. Camera quality itself and range or quite good. Once the final project is built, total cost came out to around $100 once you consider the 3d printing, wiring, raspberry pi zero, and cables (I used a microusb to ethernet adapter for mine cause wifi video streaming sucks). If you don't care about completely running your own hardware and software: just get a $60 prebuilt that does day/night and probably swivel for you, block it from accessing the internet with firewall rules, and save yourself the time of gathering all the parts.
