IRWIN Tools QUICK-GRIP Replacement Pads for One-Handed Mini Clamps, 4-Pack (1826578), Yellow

After all the reviews that said you got the black ones and not the yellow ones shown which were the original pads, I was flabbergasted to receive the exact right ones in yellow! My clamps are the old Quick-Grip 6”/150mm by Vice Grip. The pad on the left is the old one, the pad on the right the new one. These pads are a little tighter than the originals; they probably will never fall off by accident. I have three clamps but only needed one pad that got lost in a move almost 20 years ago, now I have spares! The rest are still in very good shape even though I use them quite frequently in small woodworking projects. I am very satisfied as long as they hold up.

The product that was sent is the black replacement part , however, the part that was on line and fits my quick-grip is the yellow replacement part. Both items have the same item number printed on the package. The shape of the replacement part is quite different and it looked like it would not fit my tool. I did a bit of research about my tool, and the company that made the tool was bought out by Irwin in 1994. The replacement part looks incorrect but actually fits the tool much better then the original design. My tool was purchased in 1991 and still working very well.

I have ordered this item twice and have received the wrong pads both times. Instead of the YELLOW pads shown I received BLACK ones that do not fit my clamps. I have contacted both Amazon and the manufacturer about this error to no avail. The part number on the package is the correct number for YELLOW pads, but it contains the wrong (BLACK) pads. This would seem to be an error at the manufacturing (packaging) level. I hope it is resolved soon because I need new pad for my clamps!!

I have some small clamps that I use for holding some work pieces together while I tack weld them in place. Of coarse then they melt a little at a time. I remove them quickly enough but over time, they suffer. The clamps are light and I can toss them down so finding replacement pads are a bonus. These pads are the same thickness and quality as the clamps originally came with. Despite the description, picture, and matching part number, these are not the yellow replacement pads. They are the black rectangular pads for the newer style clamps. They fit onto the old style clamps, but the bottom of the pad bulges a little. It’ll work for me, but it’s something to be aware of.

The original description does not tell what models of Quick Grip these feet fit, but I took a chance to see if they would fit my 18" Quick Grips. They did. While pictured in yellow, the delivered product was black. This may be an improvement over the original because they snap on all sides instead of having one side open for sliding them off.

I have a few sets of the "Vise-Grip Quick-Grip" branded mini-clamps that I purchased in 1991 and the pads were showing their age and needed replaced. I ordered these based on the image and description provided by the seller because they looked exactly like the original thick, yellow, slide-on pads. When they arrived It was immediately clear that these were not what was advertised. While they do snap on to the clamps, and are functional, they are made from hard plastic and are muck thinner than the originals. Time will tell if they'll last 30 years like the originals. I did reach out to Irwin, and they were kind enough to send me another set of these pads, as well as send me a brand new, current model of this clamps bigger cousin since there were no replacement pads available for it under their lifetime replacement warranty, free of charge. So, kudos to Irwin!

Lost one of my caps in the attic down in the insulation, and could never find it. Great to be able to buy replacement. If anyone ever finds replacement ends for the micro clamps, let me know. Only drawback is having to buy 4 at a time. It took me 15 years to lose me first cap. Don't think I will be around by the time I lose my fourth.
