Excellent Traps
We moved into a new house in Fayetteville TN, and within 5 months, our 21 year old daughter was bitten by a Brown recluse. She reacted with a golf ball sized black circle of dead tissue that turned to ooze over the next 2 months. It has left a nasty scar and may require a tissue graft. The cost ran well over 1000$ even before counting future grafts. It was the worst pain she has ever felt as the tissue slowly died and turned to jelly. It was really terrifying as she ran a fever and threw up which is somewhat rare and a pretty heavy reaction. Our younger daughter reacts even worse to insect bites so we were/are very worried. I am an engineer so I did significant methodical web research and settled on these traps. We set out 10 or so of these traps downstairs. Over the next month we caught 9 recluses (as well as 30 other assorted bugs). Sadly - we have been catching 2 to 1 harmless wolf spiders over recluses (edit: One of the other reviewers said wolf spiders do bite - go figure). These traps seem to work really well. We set more in the master bedroom and caught another 8 - one was by my headboard, two were next to shoe trees. 4 were right by my wife's dresser. It's like a horror movie. Needless to say, this whole ordeal has gotten our attention in a big way. I am on a mission to vacuum crevices with a shop vac and then silicone up any hiding places. We are throwing away a ton of stuff and sorting a number of boxes we carried for years. I didn't realize I was in the Brown Recluse belt (or even what they looked like) - but now I have learned what a problem they are in my part of the country. Sadly - no more peacefully co-existing with spiders as I was taught as a youngster. These spiders are not aggressive - but if they happen to get in your clothing or your bed, you are likely to suffer a really nasty bite. Even with two German Shepherds (constantly shedding hair) - these traps stay good for over a month. Our house is very dusty as we aren't regular vacuum users - but I was pleasantly surprised at the longevity of the traps. The recluses seem to mainly come down to take a peek when a beetle or other bug is trapped, then they are trapped. I am a believer in these traps (and really don't like poisons) and am ordering another 180 so we can rotate them through multiple rooms. It seems to be one of the few effective weapons in our battle. They aren't real attractive (not sure what would be) and they don't stick on all walls or ceilings well and seem most effective at ground level. Note that while we have caught 20+ Recluses in the house over 3 months - we have never seen one inside the house outside a trap (edit: Not true now... as we have become more conscious of where they are we see them - mainly playing dead or moving slowly)! I have seen a number in my WoodShop in the wild as I moved around old plywood etc. It is the next target (edit: HUGE number of them... I think it is a lost cause to exterminate them, but I will make it safer). Edit: I insulated and sealed my garage, sheetrocked and caulked EVERYTHING so it is darn near airtight. Put down epoxy floors and surprisingly, they come in from outside and crawl around the garage door seals (they actually had a nest IN the old garage door seal). These traps catch them as they come in as they are strategically placed around doors and walls. ----------- update - 7/5/2012 I continue to use these traps. Sadly, I had more spiders than I thought in all my outbuildings and in my house. I have caught well over 200 recluses in the house over the last 2 years. No one else has been bitten and we are methodical shoe shakers now. Just ordered another 180 traps.

Effective bug control for those with kids or pets
We recently did some fixing up in a basement to make our house seem a little bigger and to make it a place we wanted to spend some time throughout the week. One of the issues that needed correcting was that every time we were in the basement, we came across lots of different bugs crawling around. After going to my trusty source for products and reviews, I chose to go with these traps to begin with. I am very pleased with this product so I came back to talk about it and to order some more for when I need them again (I usually buy in quantity when I find something I am pleased with so I know I will have access to it in the future). First, I am going to wonder out loud if those writing some of the terrible reviews are in the pest control industry themselves. If they have the number of bugs that they claim I don't understand how they could have such a dissimilar result from what we have seen. My only thought is that they placed their traps poorly. We have had some traps that have not seen much action. We initially only placed 3-4 in a 1000 sq ft area and some are still fairly new looking. On the other hand we have gone through several traps in an area where there is a door to the outside. I will include an example picture of what one of the traps placed there looked like after a month or so. Point is...it does take a little trial and error to find where they will work best for you. The good news is that since it is just a sticky trap with no bait or poison, it doesn't go bad or expire. You can move it around and use it until the surface area is pretty well covered and replace it. This and the cardboard tube style of this product make it kid and pet friendly. Another thing I wanted to mention is that these are not horribly noticeable or unappealing. These can be laid flat or folded and put under a piece of furniture and all but forgotten about. If you go to a doctors office, gym, supermarket, etc and look closely, those types of places use products similar to these. I had never really noticed them until I bought some and put them to work. Now I see similar traps being used everywhere. The only one we really have out in the open is the one by an exterior door in an unfinished basement. If I ever use these by other doors I will just slide it under something where the bugs can still access it but I won't see it. I will close by saying that these are a great product and superior to chemical alternatives. I could probably spray poison outside and get all the bugs but I would never be confident that it would not be tracked into my house or gotten into by pets or kids. I found this particular model to be priced better than alternatives but have not tried other sticky traps to know how they compare. I have not found any evidence that bugs have walked right over this trap and not gotten stuck as other reviewers have mentioned. The only bugs we have found in the basement since putting these up are 2-3 crickets, which would have to be suicidal to jump into one of these based on the design.

Just great!
I think the only way these would be better is if they had an attractant in the middle of them. I have arachnophobia and recently had an unfortunate encounter with a very large, fat, black spider in my home. Luckily for me I was able to kill the spider though I do really dislike doing that. However I cannot feel comfortable if they are near me especially if they are indoors. I had been of the opinion that as long as they don't bother me I won't mess with them. I prefer to catch and release as I know how beneficial spiders are and I don't like killing creatures. However this one was about an inch to an inch and a half from leg tip to leg tip and crawled out from under a kitchen appliance. It was terrifying to know that something that large had been living in my home. I did some research that night and found these sticky traps. I like that there is no poison or anything to harm our cats or humans. I am not a fan of poisons. These do kill the bugs and spiders that get trapped inside, but unfortunately I couldn't find a better option and the sheer fear that I was in after that huge spider crawled out on my kitchen floor I can't help to want to kill all that are in my home, I just cannot live with them in the same place. They have already caught a few small spiders and several other bugs, which I also think it's great as I don't particularly want any bugs in my home. Indiscriminate bug catching/killing so that anything that enters into the sticky part of the trap will never bother me again. I don't know if it's good or bad that none have caught any of the huge spider's cousins or other family members. Part of me is glad that I have not seen anymore, that he/she was the only one, but I can't be sure of that. So the other part of me is hoping that some are caught so that I can have proof that they might be all gone now. Either way, I have full confidence in the stickiness of these traps. While putting them together to set out the plastic film that you pull off the sticky part got folded over so that back side of the film touched the sticky part of the trap and I could not get it off. These are very sticky and the sticky glue is very thick too so it's nice and squishy. Our traps have even caught small flying bugs, so I am very happy with them. I have also started using a deterrent, with other research I found that spiders do not like vinegar so I have been spraying that around and as well as peppermint and lemon, which I will use in my garage and unfinished basement, but worry about it's affect on my walls inside my home so it's just vinegar that I'm using inside for now. I highly recommend these, whether it's arachnophobia related or if you have dangerous spiders or bugs in your area, I believe these will work well for you!

traps
These work well but wear disposable gloves when handling these because they are extremely sticky and if you get this stuff on you it is very difficult to remove it from your skin.

A huge help
I love these insect traps! They've taken the ants, gnats and tiny little I-don't-know-whats out of circulation in our house, and I've gone from watching my step to much more relaxed. The traps work well and the sticky has lasted one to two weeks or more for us, though that will be different depending on how much dust is in your house and your specific location. Further, they are a fantastic diagnostic tool. The house we rent has been badly neglected and we can't fix all the holes, but by scattering the traps around the house and then checking to see how many bugs we caught, we were able to figure out where they were getting in. We found that most of our insects were coming through the back door, repaired the weather-stripping some, and have a lot less bugs now. We've been able to pinpoint the door and windows that need work and the ones that don't. That's very helpful to me! There are just a few caveats I would add. 1) These will only work with spiders if you're trying to catch the hunting, rather than web-building, spiders. We caught a good number of small spiders and some larger ones, so they definitely work, but the web-builders tend to stay off the floor so I'm still finding them on the walls. Also, if you're using them with large spiders check them often. I found one obtaining some success in his attempts to escape over a matter of a few hours. We also found a number of large spiders dead in random places shortly after we started using them so I can only assume they lost an important organ to the traps but did make a temporary escape. 2) Be careful with these around kids. If they're in an open area (not under furniture) the little guys will step on them and squish them, after which they're useless. Also, if you're trying to trap spiders, remember that even non-aggressive spiders (most of them) become aggressive when threatened. The traps are completely harmless to children but a child investigating a trapped spider could easily be bitten. 3) What you get is 90 small traps, or thirty of the long, three-stuck-together type pictured. Perfectly fair, especially at that price, but it was a bit unclear and so while I was expecting 30 large I would have been disappointed if I was expecting 90 large.

Great traps, super sticky and .27 cents each. Set up is easy..........read below
So far, these are the best and cheapest traps that I've found. Know what you're buying. You're buying just a "sticky trap", no type of lure with this trap. But........if a bug gets caught on the trap, then yes...........that in itself will lure a spider which will then become stuck. You have 30 sheets that are scored, each sheet breaking down into 3 traps if you want. You need to at least break down into a section of 2 and 1. Reason being that the "sticky part" is so sticky, that the bugs, spiders will not be able to get to the middle because they'll be stuck before they can reach it. I suggest using each sheet as 3 traps, cost is .27 each. There is adhesive on the back, so that you can stick these up on a wall (as in garage areas). And when torn apart into 3, you will have some very sticky edges. Here's what ya do........Take a full sheet and fold along the scored lines one way and then the other way. Now tear into 3 traps. (no don't remove plastic from sticky part, it's scored and will tear w/ each trap). Using a sm. amount of flour, dip each sticky part of your trap, tap onto a hard surface to remove extra, viola, you now have 3 traps with non-sticky edges. You can either lay out your traps as little tents or leave flat, it doesn't matter to spiders. But.........I suggest removing the paper off of the sticky part BEFORE you fold into a tent. The flour on the edges will actually "lure" some insects. Insects are fine in their proper habitat, but their habitat just isn't gonna be in my house. Hope this helps, highly recommend.

Better than Poison!
I moved into this cockroach-infested place about 5 years ago, and I had not been able to get rid of this little roaches for a long time until I found these traps! I'm not going to lie, this is not going to get rid of those little creaters for good but this is definitely going to reduce them tremendously. You basically need to become a Monica Geller for 1 month and you'll see a difference, trust me! What you need to do is # 1 BLOCK ALL ENTRANCES/EXITS (Look over and under you kitchen cabinets and all over your place) and if you see any wholes onto any walls, place these traps all over them, # 2 cover the holes/entrances w/ caulk # 3 clean all cabinets, and floors and behind and under all appliances w/ clorox and place these traps under appliances, and # 4 sit-back and relax. Of course, you will need to continue your cleaning, getting rid of trash every other day, pouring clorox in your kitchen and bathroom pipes, and most importantly using Boric Acid (cautiously) all over your most roach-visited place until you get rid of them! I have not been able to get rid of them yet 100% because I live in an apartment complex that is infested w/ them but I have reduced them almost 90% which is huge! I change these traps monthly and I still see little roaches trapped in them, but I've seen a reduction of them since I started using them. I'm doing this review because I'm purchasing more traps and I thought I needed to let you all know about my experience. Good luck to all of you who have a roach phobia like I do :( UPDATE: I don't know why but these traps don't seem consistent. Some roaches get trapped but some others seem unaffected by the glue. I just saw one run over the glue trap like nothing! Hmmm, I'm wondering if these traps lose strength if left out in the open for too long. I guess, changing them every now and then could help. On the other hand, I did notice that the last order I place with this Co. seem a little less gluey. Not sure if I need to order them somewhere else :(

Works well for Brown Recluse
Good deal for 90 traps. I bought these to deal with Brown Recluse spiders. They are flat which is what you need. I fold each one and cut off the edges that would make the fold up tent “I don’t need that either” then tear the perforations and you have 3 traps ready to go. I don’t use the sticky part on the bottom either so I leave that strip with the protective cover over it. Once you get the system down you can throw down a lot of traps very quickly. When one gets something stuck on the trap it only takes a moment to grab another sheet and pop out 3 more. These traps have been very effective in letting me know what type of recluse quanitity I am dealing with and how effective my treatment is working. In the meantime they also show where your major issues are and by themselves help to put a damper on the population. If you are battling these things put lots and lots of traps out. Take off all switch cover wall plates and carefully knock out one of the lower tabs in the blue box. Take a good bulb duster and blow Delta Dust in those holes. Also stick the small tube of the duster every few feet under your baseboards (where you have carpet) and let it shoot down the perimeter. Under vanities, all pipe and electrical openings, outside soffit openings, brick venting cracks and every other out of reach hole you can find. The attic perimeter that is out of reach is another good place for sure. Don’t blow Delta Dust where people can get into it. Delta Dust does kill these things as well as Tempo Dust. The Delta is better because it is waterproof and will not break down due to water and it also will not get clumped up in your duster due to humidity. The Dust application is good for 8 months, after this it is time for a redo. Good luck and this will help to control these things but don’t plan on eradicating this insect.
