So much better than my prevous glass bottle and fits in my large cup holder!
I kept buying glass water bottles and then breaking them by mistake. This time around I decided to suck it up and go with plastic. Another thing that had been a priority had been fitting in a cup holder but I also wanted more capacity and I couldn't see to find both, so I went with the larger size. Imagine my delight when I realized this DOES fit in my cupholder! It will fit into the larger size cupholders ONLY, not the standard sized one. So, it doesn't fit in any of the ones in my Prius but does fit in the Mercury Mariner cupholder when you remove the cupholder insert allowing yourself a bit more space. I love the wide mouth on this bottle, too. I didn't want a straw and I always spill on myself so the wide mouth was a must. The other thing that I'm thrilled about is that the bottle seals itself really well so you don't spill water whenever you open it. My prevous bottle dribbled water from the lid everytime I opened it and I just thought I was the reason. Now, I realize that it was never me and it was the bottle all along. As silly as it sounds, this is like a whole new world! I am thrilled by this bottle and would definitely buy it again. It is sturdy, drop-able without being breakable, has a wide opening and BONUS: fits in my large sized cup holders. Tip: the price varies based on the color, so if you don't care about the color but do care about the price click on all of the options before adding to the cart and purchasing.

Back to Nalgene and so happy about it!
Seventeen years ago, when I bought my first water bottle, it was a Nalgene. Then, several years later, I got distracted by Camelbak's Eddy bottle, and had a love/hate relationship with it for the last 8 years, which eventually just became a hate-only relationship because that damn bite valve has to be replaced so frequently (the bottle leaks if you don't) and Camelbak makes it very difficult to do so. Ugh.So I finally went back to the ol' Nalgene a couple weeks ago and I will never stray again. I highly recommend the wide mouth bottle (for easy of cleaning) paired with a splash guard (I bought one by HydraPak) if you're sloppy like me. I also impulse bought this goofy prepper's handle multi-tool thing because I'm a sucker for that rainbow paracord. No regrets.Didn't realize I could ever be so excited about a water bottle system, but here we are. Don't be tempted by these newfangled designs from Camelbak or Hydro Flask. Nalgene is all you need in your life.

love this thing
Bought this thing two years ago so now I feel prepared to write a review.Freakin love it. It's cheap, durable, big, versatile, can't leave home without it. I got the large mouth for easier cleaning, and to be able to add ice cubes and infuse fruit or use it for dry food like trail mix. I've taken this thing through national parks and across Europe, as well as being my go-to everyday water bottle. I've dropped it so many times on such a wild variety of surfaces and while it's got a few little scratches here and there it's never broken on me. It can be a little heavy and can be sometimes inconvenient when it doesn't fit into cupholders or bottle pockets, but I like always having plenty of water with me. The measurement markings on the side are good for helping me keep track of water intake too, and Nalgenes are the only plastic bottles I've used that don't have an awful plastic taste to them. And in a pinch, when packing, the wide mouth is big enough to stuff it with clean socks or undies when I need it to take up less space in my bag. All around the #1 water bottle I use and recommend.

Strong bottles
I've been using nalgene bottles for almost 10 years and I still use most of them. I'm beginning to replace them and update to the BPA free ones for some peace of mind. I once threw one of the older grey ones off an 80 feet rockface when I was climbing to see what would happen to it. It bounced off a few boulders on it's free fall from 80 feet and made a loud thump since it was full of water when it hit the rock base below. When I climbed back down I picked it up to find that it was scratched, which was to be expected and there was a little bit of water around it that leaked out from the impact, but the bottle and lid were still in place and didn't seem to leak water... So yeah these are good bottles. I'm looking forward to buying more clear ones soo I can see how many floaties are in my water when I melt snow to pour into these when snow camping. These also hold up fine in cold freezing weather, i've never had one explode. I usually take the nalgene and stick it in my boot with the lid pointing into the boot. In the morning there is ice in the top (real bottom), but still enough liquid water that I have something to drink when I wake up in the morning and the lid is not frozen shut because the bottle was upside down.

Love that Nalgene is BPA free and USA Made! Repeat purchase from a satisfied customer
I'd previously owned Nalgene products and really love that they're American made AND BPA free! Sadly too many people are unaware of the problems represented by BPA and so many products have them in it. I've been trying to get and stay as healthy as I can and hate the idea of throwing out so many plastic water bottles, so in that respect using the Nalgene water bottle is good for the environment as well. The previous one I had was a narrow mouthed water bottle and it was almost impossible to really clean thoroughly which made me worry nasty stuff might remain inside or be growing. Hence I switched to the clear plastic version so it's easier to see if anything's lingering or there, and the wider mouth means I can get inside to clean it thoroughly. Not to mention it's WAY easier to get ice in to keep your water good and cold. I love the loop on the lid so not only it doesn't get lost, but you can loop it on your belt loop, use a caribener, or loop to to a backpack or bag. The simplicity of design alone would keep me coming back, but there's SO much more to recommend here!
