Q: What is the rod dimension?

the rod is 12 inches long and I am guessing at a 1/4 inch diameter. But I always cut the rod to size with the landscape/tube cutter that I use specifically for cake decorating

Q: Do you need one of these per tier or will this do more then one tier? I'm doing a 3 tier cake and was wondering how many of these I need?

I like to put 3 or 4 in the bottom layer…one in the center and the other three around in about an one and a half to two inches out, depending on how big the bottom and the next layer is. This really helps with stability. I do the same on the second tier if there are more that 3 tiers. You will need 2 -3 packages.

Q: Do these fit into Wilton seperator plates only or will they fit other brands of sperator plates?

These are meant to be used as supports within a cake, they do not fit into a separator plate.
