Q: We have 8x8 wood posts for the end connections will these be long enough?

Wow, those are big posts but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I have 4X4 posts and the end fittings don't extend all the way through to the inside of the post, which is actually a good thing because it looks cleaner that way. The same principle would apply to a larger post. The biggest issue you'll have, particularly with such big posts is drilling the holes so they are straight and plumb. Best thing I did when doing my installation was to make a cardboard template for drilling the holes on my posts, which saved a ton of time measuring where to put the holes on each post. But even with a template and 4X4 posts, my holes were often not perfectly straight and plumb. It will be that much harder with 8X8 posts. I saw a video somewhere where a professional installer made some kind of jig for his drill to help with this. I didn't. The results are fine but could have been better. This issue would apply to any product you would use for the end fittings, though.

Q: With the hydraulic crimper, which awg die should i use ? #6 or #7 awg? or else ?
