Learn JavaScript Visually Hardcover – July 18, 2014

First of all you should know that all the information you find in this book can be found on the internet, w3schools is 1 good resource just fyi. I was disappointed when I pulled this book out and it was soooo thin. 70 to 80 pages max and lots and lots of white space on each page and a exercise page is every other page like a work book so it likely could of been a 20 or a stretch 30 page booklet and still had all the information that is in it. I was like there is no way that this covers all of JavaScript. It dont...dont expect to get a full understanding of js from this. An example is the not ! binary operator. Some of you may know what I'm talking about it is needed and used alot in JS...but you wont learn about it in this book. You will see a list of them and also see a list of reserved words. Both of these things I was excited to have a book that gave definitions of and the uses...but you wont find that in this book. This could of been a great book I had such high hopes but I am really let down atm. reallllly let down. This is maybe a 10 to 15$ book that they have doubled the price on.I got this to have all the information in one place and I wanted to dig deeper and understand JS very well but also have some visual candy to help retention. NOT at all a holistic review and or explanation of JS. The stuff that is in the book you do need but it is very basic and you will still need to search the internet to fill in the many left blanks. You will get 0 information about any JS libraries which is a very big part of JS. If you have children, which I do it may be nice as a beginning book to introduce JS but you will have to follow up with a better book or good surfing skills. I guess its a good thing there is so much white space as Ill need it if I keep it to finish writing the book.I am going to read threw this better. But sitting with it for a moment and going over it this is def my first impression.

I took coding in college and I also followed up with self study to expand my knowledge or grasp.I honestly feel if I were to have read this as a beginner it would make a lot of sense to me and even increase my retention of JavaScript. I also know a couple of beginners that I showed the pics or graphics to. I then asked them their take on if these beautiful pictures could assist them in furthering their comprehension of JavaScript. It seems the pictures appealed to beginners as most were visual learners and they naturally gravitate to the pictures. The images do a nice job of breaking up what normally is pretty heavy cut and dry data like most books on Java. All together the information and picture combo was successful. Readers are able to expand their current understanding or start fresh as well as associate visual examples with effective implementation.This is intended for beginners and with that being said I find it an excellent start for beginners. It's not super long and creates some real strong foundational links.The only drawback is that it needs to be edited. There are some areas that need a little polishing. When I saw this ebook, I clicked on it immediately, and I'm glad I did. I took courses in computer programming, and have loved it ever since 9th grade. However, sitting there listening to a teacher go on and on can be tedious, especially when you already have a background in computer programming. I needed something that would allow me to learn Javascript at a faster pace. therefore, I found this ebook to be exceedingly helpful, and exactly what I had been searching for. By breaking down the fundamentals of Javascript in a visual format, it does the converting of words to images for you to a degree, which cuts down on reading time and allows for faster memorization of concepts.I received this producut in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

I have found this book very helpful and it makes the concepts very easy to grasp for an amateur like me.I came across this book on kickstarter when I was looking for a way to learn code as I'm going to do a computer science degree next year and was told it might be helpful to have a little headstart so the first few weeks aren't quite as painful. And this book starts from the real basics and put it all into simple turns so you don't feel like an idiot but don't feel overwhelmed at all. It uses real life exaplmes to make it all a bit easier to understand and remember.I have had the book for a few weeks now but have not yet made it the whole way through due to having lots of college work but it is very hard to stop working my way through it.Overall it is a great book and I would highly recommend it to anyone that is interesting in learning a new skill!

The description of programming concepts in this visual manner is a great way to introduce programming to new people.In time I'll use this book to help introduce programming to my kids

Nice illustrated short introduction for JavaScript. Clear construction for every topic (Description -> Problem/code/answer).You can read it from start to end or pick out one topic ... as it says basic JavaScript level not more.Because of the many pictures also children can use this for learning.
