The 30 series comes in both a 3/4" or 1" engine bore that can handle 5 hp - 11 hp, and the 40 series torque converter comes in a 1" bore only and will handle 9 hp - 18 hp. If your engine HorsePower falls between 9 and 11 hp, your tires are large, and or you do lots of offroad/climbing, then go with teh 40 seriestorque converter.
