Excellent SanDisk powered flash drive.
I ordered 2 of these and decided to cut one of them open for a project I was working on. All I needed was the chip inside. So I cut along the two seams in the plastic very carefully until it was thin enough to snap apart. I was extremely pleased to discover compact flash memory chip inside was a SanDisk made chip. I tossed the plastic shell and my project worked with great success. I just thought I'd share my discovery with other Amazon shoppers who were considering buying this drive and wondered who made the flash memory inside. SanDisk is about as reliable as the sun rising. The drive I didn't slice open is serving me well. I wear it on a neck band on my neck every day when I was in school and now every day at work. I work in the IT field as a computer technician. The plastic connector doesn't bother me. It's not "flimsy" as others have falsely claimed. I cut through the plastic myself. I should know if it's flimsy or not. It's not. It holds up to use and abuse just fine. I've transfered 28 gig sized files to and from the drive before. The read and write speeds are pretty good for a drive of this size. Normally the larger drives like the older patriot rage drives have faster transfer speeds. But, they're so large they take up too much space in your USB hub or on the side of your computer. You need a flash drive to be under a certain size so it doesn't interfere with your cables or so you can plug several of them into 3 USB slots that are all right next to each other. This drive is the perfect compromise between size and speed. It's slim enough to fit into any cluster of USB plugs and devices. Excellent drive for the money. I can highly recommend it.

5 Stars--as advertised
When buying this, I bought it for my Macintosh as a Boot Camp Windows 7 boot USB drive. I'd previously read in a forum that this brand and type worked fine, and unfortunately it did not work well with Boot Camp. However, seeing as there was nothing advertised about boot camp and it works great as a thumbdrive otherwise, 5 stars. The size is a pro and a con; in one hand, it fits in my wallet and is with me wherever I go. In the other, it's easily lost if you're not careful. All around, great buy for the price and a good product. It didn't happen to work for boot camp, but that happened with other thumb drives and I got the same error, so it's definitely not the thumbdrive--I would definitely recommend this product.

Excellent drive - survived all winter in the snow/salt/slush in MN!
Great keychain USB drive! Very durable and reliable. I lost and found my 8GB version of this drive after dropping it in a snowbank next to a busy road... Several months later, after the snow and salt had melted and washed away, I found the drive! I popped the internals out of the plastic housing and didn't see any corrosion, so I tried it in my computer and it still works good as new! Amazing considering our harsh & salty MN winters. I've been using this 32GB version for a few months and have been just as pleased. I only wish it included a keychain leash like the Kingston drives do.

Cheap and cute. Lacks a cap.
I bought the 4GB version of this flash drive. THE GOOD: -It is VERY compact -- really tiny. I love that. -Unique, clean modern look -Inexpensive THE BAD: -No cap. Most flash drives come with a cap, or can be retracted into themselves for protection. I feel like I can't just toss this in my bag -- but instead have to be more careful with it (and back it up more frequently). The previous versions of the Sony MicroVault drives did have a little silicone sleeve... I wish they included that with this one. -Not easy to attach to a keychain. There is a rectangular hole at the end of the flash drive (you can see it in the photo), but it is TINY. So you can attach this drive to a keychain, but you won't be able to use a normal keychair ring, ball chain, etc. You'll need something thin (as thin as dental floss) to actually be able to fit through the hole. TIPS FOR USING: -This comes with 5 GB of free cloud storage on SugarSync, so that could be a bonus if you are looking for more online space. Overall, if you care about aesthetics, this is a great flash drive. It's best used for projects where you'll be able to mainly keep it in one place, because it is so small and unprotected. If you're a student and want a durable drive that won't get lost and you can just toss in your backpack, this probably isn't the best choice.

but is pretty sturdy. I haven't had any problems carrying it ...
I generally buy these for price, not speed, and it's as speedy as any other USB stick I've bought (usually Cruzer Micros). I mostly use it to transfer MP3 files between my home and work PC. The port entry "feels" flimsy, but really isn't. At least, it's very thin, flexible plastic, but is pretty sturdy. I haven't had any problems carrying it in my pocket. Time will tell. I'm very pleased with its size and performance for having paid only 12 bucks.

great size, durability, price and quality
I have been buying these sony micro flash drives for years and they are excellent. price, space available, easy to use and quality. I have had some for over 10 years and they still work fine. I keep mine stored in an empty yellow plastic medication pill bottle so they wont get lost while traveling however.

It lasted under 5 yrs with little usage
I realized that I've had this USB drive for almost 5 years. Black Friday of 2014 I got this. So I don't know the failure rate of USB drives but I have a handful from then and even older ones (like less than a 1gb) that still work. I haven't really used this drive all that much over the years so I find it a bit strange that it's dying now. It'll be connected to a PC/Laptop and I may be watching a video off the drive and suddenly it'll disconnect. It'll disconnect in about 10-15min on it's own without any activity. None of my current drives do that. Doesn't seem to matter what device it's plugged into, it does it on all of them. It's not a big deal, and I got it at a decent price but I'd recommend other more established brands at this price point.

Sony Micro Vault M-Series Flash Drive used for Windows 7 'Ready Boost' extended memory.
Very fast delivery for this new Sony 4GB Flash Drive. I like to use this Flash Drive for 'Ready Boost' extended memory on my Windows 7 PC's. The 'Ready Boost" feature supports up to 4GB, so this is the largest Flash Drive that can be used. This Flash Drive also has a LED that blinks when it is accessed, so that you know that your system is using the Flash Drive as extended memory. The 'Ready Boost' feature improves overall system performance.
