The Reef Octopus Octo Bio Churn 120R takes a new approach to efficiently fluidizing biopellet media without blasting the media itself with direct flow pressure. The unique motion these innovative reactors produce allow for much greater suspension of the media in a cyclone "churn" style motion created with their patent pending churn plate. The included 1 Liter Two Little Fishies NPX BioPlastics is an ideal biopellet for the Reef Octopus Octo Bio Churn 120INT. These pelletized biodegradable polymers provide a time-released source of food for bacteria that assimilate nitrate and phosphate. As bacteria develop on the pellet surfaces, excess growth sloughs off due to the tumbling in a fluidized filter, and these bacteria can be removed with a protein skimmer or serve as planktonic food for filter-feeding invertebrates. This Reef Octopus in-sump BioChurn Reactor comes with an Aquatrance 1200 pump that feeds the reactor as well disperses the media into suspension. These models are ideal for those that want a simple reactor that is easy to use and maintain. Capacity: approx. 900 ml (depends on media used). Recommended for aquariums up to 240 gallons.
