2 Liter plastic bottles will not protect from oxygen passthrough in long term food storage scenarios. You might consider a container with less oxygen passthrough. Glass or mylar bags. 300cc bags are recommended for a gallon so a 200cc bag is likely a better fit for a 2 liter bottle.

Q: what is shelf life of packets?

I reseal my bags because they get hard fairly quickly. I've had sealed bags for a year that are still good. I buy in bulk. I wouldn't trust storing them in just the clear bags they come in because over time air can get in. I store my original sealed bags of o2 absorbers in either jars or a sealed Mylar bag.

I put them on the top of the food and seal them immediately with a vacuum sealer
