6 years of shop slop sink service and still going
This was installed by plumbers in a slop sink I have in my shop 6 years ago. It's had all kinds of chemicals, fluids, paint thinners, paints and more going through it and seems to be working just fine. It'll make abnormal noises when thick stuff gets flushed through, but that's likely just the substance getting stuck on the moving parts. Pretty impressed so far.

Best option for my basement wet bar sink! I'm pleased!
My basement is entirely underground and required a sewage ejector pit to be able to have a bathroom. Unfortunately, my wet bar was on the other side of the basement and it was not practical to tear up the floor for 20 feet to run a drain for a small bar sink. This pump was the answer! (A couple of the pictures at the top of the page are my installation). I ran a 1 inch drain out the back of the sink and then straight up the height of the ceiling (8ft) then the line runs across the ceiling for 9ft (with proper down slope) and then goes down the opposite wall about 4 feet into the main waste line. It was pretty easy to install, if your a competent DIYer you shouldn't have a problem. As with any plumbing you need to be careful of measurements, dry fit, etc, etc. The only thing that concerns me a bit is the weight of the pump hanging from the sink. I am toying with putting a simple wooden support block underneath, not a problem with pump.. maybe I got a cheap sink..? Anyway, the pump does what its supposed to, I've had it installed for 5 months, no problems at all. Assuming it has a reasonable life expectancy, I would definitely purchase this pump again.

Fast Pump with Easy Installation but be Cautious of Vender
1/7/22 UPDATE: Returned defective pump via UPS per Amazon instructions on 1/4/22, and received a replacement via FEDEX just now. Upon opening, while the physical body of the current pump appears to be in good order (unlike the last one) albeit very dusty, and the pump seems to work per initial test, it clearly is not new (as the product is being advertised, and as my invoice indicates "new"). Evidence of this is that the pump was repackaged upside down in the box, the O-ring kit bag was open with no O-ring parts in the bag, and the cardboard bracing inside the box was frayed (as if pulled open) where the pump collar meets the cardboard. Very disappointing. While the product meets my needs, the vender is clearly supplying non-new products (twice now). Accordingly, I will keep my 1-star rating given the last two pumps I received were not as advertised (i.e., new).If ordering be cautious of vender supplying pump.1/3/22 UPDATE: Previous 2 orders of this pump went flawlessly. As the first one bought in 2015 finally gave up the ghost, and I installed the backup (same model, but not Amazon) just a few weeks ago, I ordered another one from a different supplier on Amazon to again have a backup. Arrived today with slightly damaged packaging, but nothing that would indicate a serious concern. However, the pump assembly was not consistent with the ones I bought previously. A wire was wedged between the plate and box of the pump, and the capacitor top was dangling loos and off the (bent) bracket that held the main part of the capacitor. I did a quick test with it plugged in. While the pressure switch activated, no pump engagement. Starting the return process and hoping it goes smoothly. I'll update as necessary.FWIW, my first pump (with regular use) lasted a good 6 years--impressive.I bought this instead of going with the above-ground ejector pit option. I have it connected to a utility sink and have my washer and a water softener drain into the sink. If it were only for the washer, it would be fine as the included (and necessary) ball valve would generally only need to be set once. However, I have to adjust the valve depending on if I am using the softener (which I currently regen with a manual start) or the washer. Even with the valve almost closed, the pump cycles about 300 times per 2-hour softener regen cycle due to the slow flow from the softener. This has me concerned about how long this pump will last given that I run several loads in the wash per week and the softener once per week. Time will tell. However, this is a great option for basement applications that are below the home's sewer line.

I installed the pump in my bar sink today and it works perfectly!
While some reviews recommend minor variations, I ran the plumbing and fittings following Hartell's instructions and have no problems once the flow was adjusted. I have an 8 foot rise, then 15 feet horizontally to reach the existing drain that I tied into. The pump is quiet, powerful, came with all necessary fittings. The installation was probably not something a novice should undertake but an experienced DIY person with some knowledge of plumbing should have no problems.2018 update - After 4 years of use, the switch seemed to be hanging up (as noted in another review). It would not start until the sink was about 1/3 full and continued running after it was empty. It seems this is related to something in our water which is gumming up the switch. After trying a number of things to get it to work correctly I unplugged the pump, filled it with chlorine bleach, and let it sit for an hour. I plugged it back in and ran water through it. It seemed better so I repeated the process and it now is working fine again.Further update, after 2 months the switch has failed again and the chlorine trick didn't resolve it. The switch is badly corroded (as noted in another post) I have cleaned it and will give it a try but I am not positive about the long term prospects. If I can't find a replacement switch I will be looking for another solution.Rating dropped from a 5 to a 3. Will go lower if I can't find a switch! Too bad as it worked so well for a long time!2020 Update. I was able to locate a replacement switch, but did not install it as the pump was still operating properly. We sold the house so I don’t know how long it lasted. In the end I was satisfied enough to install one of these in our new house a year ago. Upped the rating to a 4.

Basement wet bar
I haven’t hooked this up yet but love that it doesn’t require a vent . I will be using this for a wet bar sink in a basement. I purchased it early in my project so I can get measurements to help with rough-in placement. This old house has a good video.
