" Steven and Howard provide an easy to understand framework for growing our own emotional capacity
As a professional coach who works with clients to help them develop their leadership and influence, I find that EQ is one of the single most important areas that we can focus on to produce exceptional results. In "The EQ Edge," Steven and Howard provide an easy to understand framework for growing our own emotional capacity. They include relevant case studies and examples to drive home the impact emotions can have on us and the people around us. It's a great way to identify areas of need, and then to find strategies to help address those needs in order to be more effective in our work and life. A great read, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about EQ.

Developmental opportunity
This book is a great book for making what seems to be an intangible concept into a tangible one. The authors do so by defining the 15 skills used to assess and develop Emotional Intelligence (EI).I especially liked the way the authors use examples of successful skill use, which brings them to life. Moreover, if the reader wants to develop their own EI, the authors have added exercises and self-assessments at the end of each chapter.Unfortunately, there is still much stigma around EI and that is why this book is one of the best on this subject. It offers skills that can be developed, which takes the fear of emotions out of the equation.

Great repreesntation of real life scenarios I've either watched or have been a part of (intended or not). Used this book to lead a book club after the book was introduced to me through an EQ training I participated in late last year. Highly recommend working through the exercises in the book if you look to pursue a book club discussion. Feedback from the book club was positive. More interaction, more value.

Invaluable resource for acting on the EQ-i assessment
This book is invaluable for coaching clients who are using the Multi-Health Systems EQ-i 2.0 emotional intelligence assessment.I use this book with every one of my clients who takes the EQ-i 2.0 emotional intelligence assessment. It is an extremely useful adjunct to the explanatory information in the assessment report. With the expanded description of each of the 16 scales measured by the assessment, clients can understand their scores better and personally evaluate which scores will be the most useful to develop. This edition (3rd Edition) is keyed to the most recent version of the EQ-i assessment, which was released at the end of 2011. If the client has taken the EQ-i before 2011, they will want the older edition (2nd edition) of this book, which you will have to find on the used market.

Great book!!!
Gives a lot of good information on Emotional Intelligence. It gives you a brief history and explains some of the research that explains why developing your EI skills is important for your success in work and in like. The book breaks down 15 skills and goes through each one and provides questions for readers to write about. I would highly recommend this book.

I recommend Mike Michalowicz's "Profit First
Greg Crabtree does a masterful job of highlighting the key numbers for owners of businesses with sales of $1MM to $20MM. For smaller businesses, I recommend Mike Michalowicz's "Profit First." Mike's emphasis is to reconfigure your P&L by putting your profit target right below your gross margin and then figuring out what your expenses can be, which is really helpful. Greg also puts the profit target in his simplified P&L before allocating expenses, but he puts it at the bottom where one normally finds it. One valuable thing that Greg taught me was the "salary cap" concept. He figures that expenses and cost of goods sold are relatively fixed, so your only real variable expense is salaries; if you cap salaries, your expenses will stay under control. Crabtree is a regular speaker at meetings of the Entrepreneur's Organization.

Should have paid full price
I went cheapest offering for this title and found out that I got what I paid for. The print quality on this book is bad even with my reading glasses on, lol. A lot of the book is readable there are just a few pages that seem to be double printed. I’ll work my way through it and challenge my eyes as I try to improve my emotional intelligence. Just be warned that quality control was out to lunch when they reviewed the print quality on this one.
