Simple, effective and easy to use
This is great for someone who wants to be able to see their results on the tracker vs a smart phone and also doesn't want to have to remember to charge it constantly (since it uses a replaceable battery). Just tap the device to cycle through your smiley face, steps, miles, calories burned, time. I don't carry a smart phone, so this works great for me. Clip is made of sticky, silicone so it stays secure. The wireless sync makes it easy to automatically see your total results on a PC or other device. Weekly email is sent with the prior week's overall results so that you can see your daily averages. The device gives you different smiley faces depending on activity (or lack of). You kind of have to figure them out, since I was not able to find any kind of explanation for what each of the faces means. I have only had it for a month, so can't speak to how it holds up but am hoping that it is durable. It is a good motivator/reminder to keep up your daily activity and the calories burned indicator has been an eye opener (since I was often eating more than I was burning off). I would recommend this to someone who wants a simple, effective and easy to use device.

Great, except for the short battery life
I'm on my third Zip in as many years. The first was replaced under warranty for using batteries too quickly. By "quickly" I mean "low battery alert after a week and a dead battery within a month." Fitbit support assured me the battery should last at least 3 months. They said the issue was a simple fix (software update) but after weeks of back and forth they decided the device was defective and sent me a replacement. The replacement ate batteries as well despite regular software updates. The third I got as an incentive through work. The batteries were all different brands from different vendors. I had this problem when syncing to my laptop, my old Galaxy S3 and my current Galaxy S6. I let my boyfriend borrow one of them to use and see if he had the same problem with his walking and phone (Nexus) and he did.I've contacted Fitbit support numerous times and the recommendation is always the same: update your software. None of this alleviates the battery life problem. At this point, especially when you look at reviews here and in the Fitbit support forums, this is a known problem that Fitbit just doesn't care to correct.Other than spending $6-12/mo on batteries with no real assistance from the manufacturer this is a great little gadget. It records my steps and calculates calories burned, which is all I really need. That said, when you factor in the cost of batteries you're better off going with a different brand that doesn't have battery problems as it will offset that cost pretty quickly and you don't have to deal with useless customer service.Edited to correct a typo.

Great for tracking steps and activity levels!
I love this! I carry it around every day and get so annoyed with myself when I haven't been wearing it. It keeps me on track and helps me set my goals for how many steps I've taken. When we travel to a new city and walk all day it gives us a clear idea of how much we have been walking and how far we have gone.Pros:- Easy to use. Add a battery; sync to your computer and away you go.- Battery has a long life.- Clearly read all the information- Clips onto any type of clothes and if you need to take it out of its case it is not hard to get the fitbit in and out of silicone casing.- Can be friends with other people with the same products and its great to be able to cheer them.Cons:- The only thing that I wish it had was a back light; it would be great to see in dim lighting what my step count was. But the flipside of that is the battery wouldn't last as long if it did have that feature.Overall, I love this product. It is great to keep track of all the information that I'm looking for. As someone who walks a lot it is great to see how far we have traveled for a day trip and to keep my steps up daily. I would highly recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a way to track their daily activity levels.
