The mouse mimics your finger on the iPad. So it will work but only to the extent that your finger would. It would not emulate the mouse on the remote system.

There is a slight noise heard when using the middle button. Until you asked the question I had not noticed it.

It works on any surface. I've used it on a wooden desk, a coffee table and even the sofa cushion next to me. I always thought mouse mats were a hangover from when mice had rubber balls in them - this is an optical mouse so a mousepad's friction is not required.

Presumably your statutory right of a 12 month guarantee in the UK. It could also be covered by the statutory 6 year limited guarantee in the UK too.
