Panel does not put out advertised voltage!
Inexpensive... you will need a second panel if you intend to charge a 24v setup

Not easily moved between batteries.
The Top Solar charger works well and efficiently. It is best suited where needed for only one battery. With six batteries in different locations to keep topped off, it would be a very time consuming task using this charging unit kit.The solar panel and charge cables are semi-hard wired into the charge controller. This makes it difficult to easily switch the unit between batteries, especially when one battery uses Alligator clamps and a hard to reach battery uses a ring cable. Both cables come with the kit, but changing them on the charge controller is tedious because of the deeply recessed screws.I will modify the kit by adding SAE connector pigtails to the controller and SAE ends to the charging and solar panel cables. These quick connectors make it easier to move the components as well as using the proper sequence when disconnecting and connecting the unit.To the base of the bracket provided I added a cross bar to give the solar panel more stability front to back. The User's Manual covers general operation of the controller, but fails to explain how to set the controller to the correct battery type. You will need the eye sight of a fighter pilot to read the manual.

Boat Battery Saver During Storage
I store my boat for 6 months in a facility with no external source of electricity. In the past, I have had several boat batteries go bad at $150 each. This 20 watt panel has changed all that for the better. I now hook up the controller to my battery bank, the panel to the controller, and point the panel to the south - what a difference! This panel and controller keep my batteries charged up to 13.6 volts for 6 months of off grid storage - since doing it this way, I have not had any battery failures during storage. It's a great low cost solution to save expensive battery replacements! And I have used the same 20 watt solar panel and controller for the past 3 storage seasons in with no problems.

This little kit works great for my scooter!
There would be long stints between me using my scooter as it was gifted to me when I really didn't need it. But I still loved going around on it every now and then. The limiting factor would be having the battery get a little weak from sitting so long and making it difficult to start. I bought this and 3D printed some brackets to hold it on to the back of my scooter and just wired to the battery. Always had a full charge and was ready to go whenever I was. I think this little kit makes a pretty good battery tender as long as you do the due diligence of keeping it dry. There are a lot of battery tender options out there but I didn't want something that required it to be hooked up to an AC outlet or to my house with the inherent danger of charging a battery and where I usually parked it did not have an outlet. This was the perfect solution. Although if doing something in a marine application you may want to go with a waterproof charge controller but that's up to you.

1/2 Power 12v 20 watts
The media could not be loaded. Could be better and the screws to tighten the MC4 cable is not recommented. ETFE panel doesn't seem to play nice with this panel repacement. I got this to use to keep the battery in my SUV AGM charged. Now don't get me wrong it does start up with the unit dropping down to 10.6v for the low. Once you start up you can go like this all day long start and shut and start and shut. Once you add a load to the solar controller than is were it's weakness is. This controller does light up at night to show me that panel is not charging battery and that the battery is charge is lower as well. I am security alarm that runs so the load is correct. Once the sun is up I see 14.0v to 14.5v when I first used it was much lower like 12.6v. I thought the battery was going on me. After using this kit the battery kept charging at stayed at 13.0v to 14.5v. Wow but only at night did it drop from 12.6 to 12.9v range.I had to switch the panel the sun relfection was just way to much on the 20 watt solar panel from Topsolar I had to mount mine on my dash. I going to tell you what heavy noisy panel it is. Racket. I was able to fix that by using sound proofing menthod I knew. That solved that issue. I would still be using that if the glass panel wasn't so reflective. This is better suited somewhere else. I keeping this kit though and might just get another 20 watt sinltce the controller can handle 136 watt on 12 volt system. This good start if your new to this solar power. TopSolar they go by a different name is under same parent company that sells a lot of products under Amazfit product line. I did a lot of research. I think most of what Topsolar is sold is what is made for them from another company that specializes in solar products. So your getting something really good just don't know why they don't make their solar controllers better way go cheap on those. Can't change the settings when you do it always reverts back to the default settings. Out of the box it is set to 24H operation I did try 12H didn't work right. No way to turn off load feature like it set to default. I don't have anything attached to the load like a extra 12v socket connection I had got for another vendor solar kit that one was 12v 5 watts nope not again. You really need 30 to 50 watts to keep your battery at peak this can do but that is all you can use that kit for if you add charging your cell phone you can and it charges it faster than their topsolar 30s/30 portable panels does. For the money I say yes. I shot a video on my Topsolar controller on the lower side of my dash and Topsolar 12v 20 watt panel on my dash.Update, I have to concur with another reviewer this is not pushing out 20 watts more like 10 watts. 30 watt panel is less than 20 watts. You'll need something like 50 - 55 - 60 watts. The way this panel works you can't even run two devices on the USB charger is a dead giveaway. I am not buying anything else from this company code name topsolar ever again. This 12v 20w and their 30s 12v 30w portable solar device had to be sent back. They are not working as advertized.I had ran some other test on the controller solar panel in the house and found out the panel is not pushing 20 watts. Solar Controller they give you is only 10 amp Need min of 20 amp Depends what you trying to use this kit for. Get a multi-tester and see for yourself.Goodluck.Current System18v 55w ETFE Solar Panel with mc4 connectors20 amp solar controller with mc4 connectorsThis is for my SUV
