Motivation and Personality, 3rd Edition

What's to say. Maslow was a genius. He writes from a Western psychological perspective what has been known in Eastern thought for centuries. Now there is more of a bridge between the two, but no one has picked up the torch. I hope this happens, but self-actualization is a complex multi-faceted construct to study. I recommend you hypothesize what makes developed, self-actualized person, then see what matches up from Maslow's description. I think you'll be surprised at what you can see, and what corresponds to Maslow's writing. With careful reflection, I think we can intuit where self-actualization inevitably leads. Unfortunately, this doesn't mean its any easier to test empirically.

Abrahm Maslow he was the hero of the human brain. I support it. I read this book more than 3 times and I am still enjoyin this book it is very very nice book. Trust me you will like if you get this book

.very informative interesting for both students and non students

This book is essential to any psychology student & even those interested in how advertising works or motivation in general. It was an easy read, with short chapters, but the third edition my teacher recommended was identical to the 2nd and 1st edition in our library. This only has a few comments on how his ideas have been used/changed. This was the lowest price I could find anywhere new (even at my school.) Read this, or not buy it used and you'll save a lot of money. The older editions are also hardcover and last longer. But I loved how compact the 3rd Edition was, I could fit it n my purse! Highly recommend!

The book arrived as described, knowlegeable and readable. This is a definite must read for the theorist interested in personality theory.

This guy was a thinker. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. I can't believe how expensive it is. I got is used for a little less.

マズローの英語はその博学さからか、専門書的な難解さがあるが、逆に日本語版では分かりにくい表現も英語ゆえに簡潔であったりする箇所もある。いずれにせよ、彼の5段階欲求説が教えてくれた意義はふたつ。１、いかなる他愛ない、小さな欲求も「あるべき」欲求として肯定している。否定しない点。２、いかなる人も環境さえ整えば偉大で献身的な貢献をしたくなる欲求をもキチンと内在している、という点。これは世の中でかなり一般的な悲観的人間観（人間は環境しだいで完全な悪人にもなりえる、人は生まれながらに個人の価値相場が決まっている、的なもの）を根こそぎ覆すものと思う。考えうる最も崇高な欲求が万人の中に「種」のような形でしっかり内在している。見えはしないが万人がその可能性の種を持っている。この欲求説は、自分に可能性を見出そうとする沢山の人に希望と慰め、新たな努力へのきっかけを与えるのではないか、と思う。加えて、可能であればぜひ彼のオリジナル英語でのインパクトを楽しんではいかがか。

This book appears to be printed on demand, the print quality is not very good and makes a difficult read that much harder. Not worth it if you can find an original copy. As for the content, it's Maslow - concepts are interesting but he does write very academically so be prepared!
