Country Life - Maxi-Zyme, Digestive Enzyme Complex - 120 Vegetarian Capsules

My son (6 years old) and I both have gluten intolerance, and I have lactose intolerance too. When we "cheat" on our gluten and dairy free diet we both take one of these with the first bite of our meal. I have way less brain fog and gassiness afterward, and I see a difference in my son's skin reactions (keratosis pilaris). *Update* A couple years later and this is still the brand we use! My husband and other son take it too now so they're not as gassy when they eat a lot of dairy.

One of the better digestive enzymes out there, especially for the price. It works well for me. I noticed a difference when I don’t use it.

My lovely stomach has decided to play quits on digesting food. It's a lot of fun, really. There is nothing like being in pain after eating because your body, for some unknown reason, has decided to mess with you. Cut to my life now with the Maxi-zyme enzymes. Life changing!!!!!!!!! When I first started taking them I was taking 2 with every meal. The improvement was almost immediate. Two years later and I still use them but not as frequently. I don't know if they helped my body remember what it's supposed to do on its own or what -- but unless I eat some offending food that my body still can't digest fully (yes, that would be you, Mr. Onion) I don't need to take them with every meal anymore. These are my lifesavers though. I feel SO MUCH BETTER!! THANK YOU!!!!

Great product

It was recommended by my doctor to add an enzyme with every meal and snack. This would help eliminate the bloating and gas with foods like fresh veggies. Wow has it helped. From the current research, supplementing with this type of enzyme aids in digestion and the absorption of the good stuff in the food we eat. I have tried other enzymes from time to time and I come back to this one, which I have consumed for about 5 years now. Great product.

I keep getting e-mails from Amazon asking me to review this but I have reviewed it in the past. Maybe its a different size, vendor? Here's the review; Take 1-2 capsules before eating and no heartburn. Health stores say heartburn is caused by food not digesting completely; acid stays in the stomach, travels upward. Take these, food digests completely. Avoiding eating late at night also helps. Spend a week wiht no food after 5 pm. I take a chinese formula that is a great natural cure but it is hard to find; seller recently told me the U.S. has banned some Chinese herbs. Sometimes this is for our safety. Other times it's the Drug companies hiding, blocking natural cures so they can sell us toxic drugs. In May 2017; I changed my review to 4 star. Reason; Side effects NOT listed. The product worked very well in my 50's as needed occasionally. At age 59 and 60; I had skin injuries from a chemical spill in my old residence. I developed hives for months. Skin has healed by still prone to weakness. I read online that digestive enzymes and cause skin rash, hives, stiff joints, muscles in some individuals. I noticed those problems (which I have) increase when I take the enzymes. So; I no longer take them. Many medical websites report this and other side effects. Maybe I am wrong; it might just be the warmer humid weather and hot flashes making my injured skin (from that building's toxic chemical air) more susceptible to effects of pollen, heat... Or my age has changed my reaction to the enzymes. Age cures some things; I rarely get stomach acid.

Makes all the difference in the world in what I can eat without digestive upset. There seem to be many different kinds of issues with chronic digestive upset and not all are solved by taking digestive enzymes. But for me this is all I need. Apparently I lack sufficient naturally produced digestive enzymes. Even if you have other issues, it probably can't hurt and may help to take digestive enzymes. I've taken this brand and several others for many years. They al work about the same for me. As long as they provide a wide spectrum of enzymes they are helpful. For dairy foods, though, I do take dairy enzymes as well as the Maxi-Zyme or whichever brand I'm currently using. The dairy enzyme should also have a wide spectrum of enzymes, not just lactase. That's what works for me.

I’ve used other digestive enzymes that help me digest things like cauliflower or beans. This does nothing. I do not recommend.
