Pretty neat model. I melted and stretched a piece of plastic runner (from the model) to use as both antenna wire and as railing for the conning tower. I spray pained the model, then repainted it with a mixture of water and gray and black acrylic paints. I purchased the model to show people what the USS Cod looks like, even though that is a Gato Class boat. The Balao had a slightly thicker hull and larger fuel tanks.

This is a great little model. Its very small but it works with the rest of my 1/700 fleet. Easy to build. I chose to look at pictures of the ship online rather than use some of the color recommendations. It has good detail for its size!

For such a small model it has fairly good details. Instructions are rather straightforward, should be a fun and easy build.
