Riedel Ouverture Magnum

Great deal for these wine glasses! Ordered them and got them overnight just in time for my Friday Wine Night party at my apartment with my girl friends. They are durable but feel like a nice quality wine glass. I bought it because of all the great reviews on them for an entry level wine drinker but also constantly recommended by Sommeliers' and food/wine critics as they are versatile (great for a variety of grapes and types of wine/liquor). I am a fan. It's an extra plus that they are short enough to fit in my cabinets as most other wine glasses I was looking into were very tall. I would definitely recommend getting them from amazon as they were more expensive or harder to find in other stores.

These are the PERFECT red wine glasses! Sturdy thin crystal yet tough enough for everyday along with the perfect lightly shorter stem so as not to be top heavy. The elongated cup provides for more wine or great swirling!

Great size for bold reds to breathe and short enough to fit in the dishwasher. We shall see how the dishwasher safe crystal holds up with time.

Disclaimer: I am a novice wine drinker. Below novice. Casual? I drink what I like because I like it. That's it, done, deal.Quality: My first set had one glass with a flaw upon the base, a bubble that had been formed in creation and had a slightly raised rough edge. I returned the set (very easy, very quick) and received a replacement. The replacement set has one glass with a very small, slightly rough burr near the lip, not enough for me to replace but enough to make me avoid that glass for the other.Review: This glass is amazing. I tried it against my old glasses and was amazed. Same wine, totally different experiences. in this glass, the smell was clear of 'alcohol' and filled with fruit and flowers. The flavors were suddenly separated, no longer merged but twining together. Even the aftertaste was different. I'm not saying this glass is better than others, as better is an opinion and so differs between people. I am saying that this glass created an entirely new experience for me, and to me, it was worth the expense.

The glasses were just as expected. Lovely and can be used with any wine. Makes a nice pore.

Read a review on this glass by a well-known wine expert a few years ago. The conclusion of his study was if you could only have one glass, this was it. For champagne, wine, mixed drinks, cognac, brandy, etc. Sent them as gifts to my family members. And reasonably priced by a well known quality company.

poor quality, arrived broken

I just took a wine appreciation class and bought these on the recommendation of the instructor who said they are the best all-around wine glasses (if, for example, you don't have room for or can't afford a different shaped glass for every type of wine). I totally agree that these thin-rimmed crystal glasses are much better than the thicker-rimmed cheapies that I used to have.
