Q: I'm looking for a high gloss for my polymer clay. Will this be to harsh? Or will it shine my clay very well?

Like any sanding, how well one grit works depends on how you have sanded up to that point. Specifically, you can't jump from 200 grit directly to 12,000 grit and expect to see anything good happen for a long, long time. You need to start with the lowest grit appropriate to the original surface of your polymer clay article and then sand with successively higher grits. The 12,000 grit is such a fine grit that it feels more like suede leather than it does sandpaper. It is far from harsh, it removes very little surface from the polymer clay. If you do the correct prep for using the 12,000 grit, my personal experience is that it will get a glassy shine on the clay. It's beautiful and beats what I used to get when finishing up with a cloth buffing wheel on my Dremel.
