TPI 12' ELEVATOR ALUMINUM TRIPOD FOR LASER LEVEL

I bought this tripod to take 3D scans with Matterport's 3D camera higher up in mechanical electrical rooms to capture piping, duct, and conduit paths that would be blocked if you only scanned at the max height of normal tripods.You'll need to also get the Pacific Laser Systems PLS-20351 5/8-11 by 1/4-20 Threaded Female to Male Tripod Adapter. The quick release clamps used with the Matterport camera should then have a 3/8" to 1/4" adapter.A few caveats: Matterport hasn't done any failure testing with this tripod. Its not the most sturdy either. Matterport also doesn't recommend using any kinds of thread adapters nor have they done any failure testing with those adapters.That being said, it beats balancing a normal tripod on buckets and step ladders. I've tested other large tripods fro Pacific Laser Systems and Manfrotto, but they were simply to heavy and unwieldy to use in mechanical and electrical rooms. The TPI tripod is small and light enough to pack into your flight luggage.

Love this product. Saves me 100s of $$$$. I film my matches and training sessions.I added an extender and a Movo remote control. [As shown in my picture].I use four 10lb ankle weights to anchor the tripod. Weights about 12 lbs. Easy to carry, sturdy, sets up quickly.Total height with Movo MGB-5 Aluminum Motorized 360° Pan / Tilt Gimbal Head and Sony AX700 camcorder is 13ft 5in. With 2 ft extender its 15ft 9in total height.I use my phone for WIFI to view action while I film, or an even better option is Andycine X7S SDI Camera Monitor, 7 inches 2200 nit Ultra-Bright. I am using this to mount my video camera with a pan/tilt head to get up above the crowd at Rugby and Football games.I like it a lot. The crank is a little slow but then it is meant more for precision than fast elevating. Also, the latches seem a little cheap but I am not taking much off for that because for the price I am not sure I could expect much more. Have only been using it a few weeks. Will just have to see how it holds up over time. So far so good.

The attachment needed to mount the camera was easy. For the past 3 years I have used the tripod for our church service. It has been a great tool. I did have to a minor adjustment to the elevating shaft by putting a rivet in to stop it from lowering to far. It has lived up to all of my expectations with regards to price and convenience.

This is a high quality product at an amazing price. Very sturdy and nicely finished. It will last a very long time.

I received the product and began to set it up. On the initial use a chain on the leg snapped and a keyring got stretched out. I emailed their "customer service" and was told I was using it wrong and that's why it broke. The product might be great other than that flaw but my perception of it is bad and the customer service only made it worse.
