BRINKS Door Security Bar
Not much to say here—the BRINKS door security bar does exactly what it’s supposed to. It’s sturdy, easy to adjust, and gives the door a solid, secure feel once it’s in place. Nothing fancy, nothing complicated, just a reliable extra layer of security that works as advertised.

Fits most doors
The Brinks 675-83001 Heavy-Duty Dual Function Door Security Bar works as advertised. It is easy to adjust and install, easy to remove and replace daily or even more often, and once adjusted for any particular door and floor, is very strong and secure. Anybody trying to gain unwanted access through a door with this device properly installed will not be able to do so by opening the door the usual way. They might be able to break the hinges off the door jamb, break out the door knob or break through the substance and middle of the door, but they won't be able to open it through the latch side of the door, even if they are successful in picking the lock. The device is finely adjustable for different heights of door knobs and for different kinds of floors. I advise against using the device with the foot plate resting on carpet and certainly not with it resting on any rug or pad that could slide. That could allow tearing or slippage, either of which will allow play in the fine adjustments and will allow the bar to be dislodged under sufficient force. The adjustments are by sliding one tube inside another and using a spring-loaded button to protrude through a hole, fixing the length of the adjustment tubes. The length needs to be fixed so the angle of the tube running from under the doorknob to the floor is such that the tube is compressed when someone is attempting to open the door. I suggest two people cooperate to do the initial adjustment and installation. After that, one person can easily manage the re-installation with no adjustment required. The initial installment is done best with one person inside the door to adjust the bar length and placement and the second person outside the door to try to open it when the bar is in place and the door latch and any deadbolt are disengaged. Adjustment should allow absolutely minimal motion of the door with the latch opened. Any door motion on attempted opening requires either lengthening the adjustment tube or moving the foot plate closer to the door. Once minimum motion is achieved, the installation adjustment is complete and you are safe from anyone opening that door with the bar in place. I recommend this device highy for its intended use.

Very sturdy and a great purchase
We bought one of these security bars to use on our deck sliding glass door. We were so impressed with the sturdiness and functionality that we immediately purchased second one to use on the door to our garage. The security bars are easy to adjust to the right height/length for any door. Our sliding glass door and the door into our garage have had funky temperamental locks on them from the time we purchased our house. Eventually we will replace both doors, but until then these safety devices give us peace of mind. Eventually when we do replace the doors, we can see ourselves giving them to our kids to use someday in an apartment or away at college in the dorms.

security is priority one
Most people use this to secure their doors against anyone that would want to break in. Thats a very good reason to have one. However, i bought it to stop Mother nature. I have French doors leading to a balcony off the master bedroom and the wind blows through the valley during storms and blows at the doors with such ferocity i am sure one day the latches are going to give. since i added this to the door i no longer hear even a single creak when the winds hurl themselves at the door. Its a solid unit thats simple to install and the anti slip footing even does well on carpet. It isnt overly bulky and its very lightweight. it hides nicely behind the curtains.

Sturdy. Will Do the Job.
Pretty sturdy. It should be a pretty good deterrent. A side benefit is that once you get used to using it you will also double check that the door is locked. :-) Side benefit, in some cases, it helps the door create a better seal with the frame to keep water out in a bad rain or better insulation.

Saved my grandparent’s house from being burglarized!
Great quality and does the job! My grandparents had one of these in their house and it prevented a burglar from entering. The burglar damaged the door by trying hard to kick it in but they were unsuccessful, thanks to one of these! The Brinks brand is better than other knock off ones that come apart over time. I’ve bought these as Christmas gifts for family members too! It is easy to lean against your door every night.
