Q: Is this the same as the mm-45 marcus miller signature set?

Yes but Marcus doesn't endorse DR strings anymore (he is with Dunlop strings now) so they can't use his name. We have installed them on more than a few basses and they seem to be exactly the same.

Q: can these be used on a acoustic bass?

Either an acoustic double bass or an acoustic bass guitar, these would not be the type of string I would recommend.

Q: Why are five string sets ten dollars more?

My guess is the "extra" 5th string. Is the extra $10 worth it, only if your a 5 string player. These are really good strings at this price. Good luck.

Q: what material are these made from?

Stainless steel wrap wire with a round core. They are wound in a way that they are warmer than traditional stainless strings. Be sure to purchase from Fret Nation seller! Jason FretNation
