Story of O Return to the Chateau

Difficult to rate what is now a piece of history ...
Difficult to rate what is now a piece of history in litterature. It has helped to rediscover sado masochism, at an unprecedented level, in a story which looks excessive, and that is excessive by any standard, all the more so at a time when Fifty shades of Grey looks scandalous. It is also slightly out of touch, out of fashion now, not because of the feelings which are depicted or the story , but because of the characters and their environment.,in a wrold that praises some kind of luxury in an aristocratic way. So, a book for the open minded, the litterature buff, probably not for peoplelooking for a sex story.

disappointed by the hype, didn;t follow thru
with all the hype of this being the first erotic story, it left a lot to be desired... and the second book ended with me saying wtf? what did she decide to do.. there are soooo many better trilogys and series out there, that this was a waste of money.. its not the worse 2 books I read, but would not recommend it unless you get it at the library.. not worth purchasing.

Worthy sequel
As with the first it will push imagination to perceive beyond the norm.

OK
I found the book to be lumbering and boring. Maybe it was the translation, but I found O to be the only character with any depth. The boyfriend was a jerk. I never did understand why he took her to have her trained to be a submissive. Perhaps he just was not a good Dom and couldn't get the job done?

Cashing In
Pseudonym or not, I do not believe this sequel was written by the same person who wrote The Story of O. The prose was completely different.

Superb in its genre!
Although a sado-masochistic novel, it is beautifully written, with wonderful descriptions of interiors, clothes, surroundings, emotions, and while very erotic it is never sleazy The curious thing is that it is written so beautifully by a Frenchwoman, and when an attempt was made to retelll it by an American woman the result was an absolute disaster!

Mixed emotions
When I got the book in the mail I was so excited. After reading the first and loving it, I was pleasantly suprised in finding out there was a second. I could wait to get my hands on it. Once I opens the package I couldn't wait to start reading it, that is until I took a good look at the cover... The reference to Fifty Shades of Grey was a total turn off and completely misleading.

A means to an end?
At the very start of this book is a note from the author: "The pages that follow are a sequel to 'The Story of O'. They deliberately suggest the degradation of that work, and cannot under any circumstances be integrated into it. P.R."I read the reviews for this book with interest before buying it, and having now finished it, I'm drawn back to the comment she herself made at the start. I believe if she had still been alive to read these more negative reviews (disappointed, etc),she would be smiling since they sum up precisely what she seemed to intend. I wonder if she felt compelled to write the sequel by enduring countless pleas from people - once it was known who she really was - to know what would have happened to 'O' following the ending of her original story. Since that was written/published in 1954, (incidentally the year I was born!)it seems she waited about 30 years to write this one. I'm sorry that it seems to have been her intention to disappoint her readers especially those who really enjoyed or liked her first book, and I am one of them, but as to her reasons I wish before she had died, she had explained them in an interview or article that could be read now, and possibly answer some of the questions we all no doubt have! I too would have liked a happy ending with O not having to endure any more whippings on a daily basis, but Anne Marie's statement that O was now FREE of Sir Stephen, and could indeed leave Roissy and never return, (if that's what she wanted), or stay and be looked after - (on her own terms?) I would have liked to know what she would have chosen. Perhaps that was up to us to decide, both having got to know O and in asking ourselves what we would do in her place. All in all, I found that ending very thought provoking and clever on the author's part. Whatever your feelings about the book, I liked it very much and would recommend it as a very good read.

Question: Where can you get Part One as I ...
Question : Where can you get Part One as I was given Part One by a Girlfriend in the 1980 Cannot Find IT though not impressed by part 2 as is seeks some form of forgiveness to her Characters. I believe that the Origional Story of "O " to be TRUE. Do not read the Story of " O " without Reading the Origional.

A good read
I have read the o books before and this was a revisit, as good as ever and very good literary style unlike others in this genre. Thieve books explore o’s innermost emotions and fears and hopes in her as a result of her situation. How she feels about being an object if lust and being regularly beaten.

Quelle surprise!
I was told about this book decades ago, and with all the fuss about 50 Shades of Grey and some very negative comments about this book, as well as being told something of the contents, I feel that the Story of O must have been the creative force behind it.So I decided to read the book as well as this Part 2. Although shocking content, it was very well written and would recommend this very adult content book. I think it is too good to be called porn.
