for me this is the best over the counter retinol product. I try many, I still own many. But this one the, works as described. I'm aware this may not work for some, where they might find something else that works better. I still feel, everyone should try this at least once, a whole tube worth once. my experience, wasn't amazing I didn't see results the morning after using this. It was gradual things I noticed. like how under my my lip, if you stick your tongue down behind your lower and it pushes it out, I'd notice tiny white bumps, like too much keratin build up around the hair follicles. That's gone now, It feels some and bump free, because it is. It helped fill in a few fine lines around my eyes, and mouth. didn't completely get rid of them, but I noticed those areas looked fuller, And it didn't take as much movement to pull the skin taught and smooth (we all do it, lifting the skin on the cheeks to see how much our skin has fallen). Years ago in my early 20s (I'm 40 now), I had Angular Cheilitis so bad it left deep scars next to both corners of my mouth, (the left one being a lot deeper then the right, but still a pretty deep scar). the right one is completely gone now, barely a hint that there was a scar ever there, the left one I can still see but it's much much less deep now. That's what this retinol cream did. Fairly certain is also lessened some chicken pox marks on my face (I got that when I was 15, and left a few scars behind) skin texture improved overall. Because it's gradual I feel I didn't notice, I compared and older photo to a newer photo randomly one day, and that's when I noticed it. Its so gradual that you have time to get use to any improvements, which in turn made me think their were none. lets be real, unless you're hired as a tester and it's your job almost no one takes a photo the day they start something to compare to another photo 30 days later. Life gets in the way and we forget. I love the scent also, it's subtle and reminds me of roses on a warm breezy day, the smell drifting in through an open window. The cream itself spreads easily on the face, a pea sized amount was always enough to cover my whole face. sometimes I'd add a tiny bit more to the areas I thought were more problematic or needed a little extra help. Of all the creams, and serums and ampoules, and exfoliants I've forced my face to suffer through for the sake of beauty, this little tube did so much good. It never dried my face out, or breakouts/pimples, or peeling. it just helped lessen wrinkles, and remove /lessen some scars and left my face feeling so soft and bouncy. It's time again to buy some more, at first I used it for 6 months straight, I know buy 2 tubes a year and use it more as upkeep rather then a "fix my face now" cream, it already did that.

This is a very honest review of several Roc retinol products starting with this serum. I deliberately waited a good amount of time to write this. It’s now been approximately 4.5 months since I started using this product as the FIRST retinol product ever. I will be 48 in about 5 weeks. My intent with Roc products was to use them to see how my skin responds to retinoids and to slowly build up tolerance to them before moving to a stronger retinoid. That’s what this product and other Roc retinol products have delivered! I will say that it turned out that my skin responds well to retinoids - I have never had sensitive or dry skin. What I do have are genetic under eye circles and bags and allergies that puff my whole eyes up. So now at 48 that is the area I have most issues with. I started using this product at night, then I added the retinol capsules at night and used this in the morning and I am also using the retinol eye cream by Roc and the firming serum stick (these two I am continuing to use now that I have switched to a more potent retinoid product). This may seem like a lot of products but again the goal was to build up tolerance. So 4.5 months in these are my results: my skin is overall firmer, that’s the biggest difference. Some of the very tiny sunspots are faded and my skin seems to have a little bit more elasticity. The irritation was mild, I do moisturize a lot and again, my skin is not sensitive. I do however know that for more significant improvements I need a stronger retinoid. So as of a few days ago I have started transitioning to retinAL, a more potent retinoid. Another reason for this is that retinAL can be used around the whole eye area. My transition is going flawlessly and I credit Roc retinol products including this serum for that! If you have fewer wrinkles and or are younger than these products may be enough for you, btw, it’s just not so in my case. So I will keep using the eye cream with addition of another one and the firming stick, because they are really nice. In conclusion, Roc products are great for initial introduction to retinoids, or for younger users and they will provide some improvements with consistent use. I would most definitely recommend all of the ones I mentioned here for those two purposes!

This was my first Retinol product. RoC has great reviews, so I thought it would help my older, skin-damaged face & neck. I used it religiously every night. Didn't have to build up a tolerance to it. After using the whole bottle, for me, it was disappointing. Pros: It made my face softer. It is lightweight and goes on easily. Very good quality. The pump works great. Cons: No signs of wrinkle repair. Didn't help with age spots. It helped my skin get "used to" Retinol, so I could move up to the next level. Conclusion: If I had used this when I was younger, I believe it would have helped me to avoid wrinkles and keep the skin smooth. At this point, I guess my skin is too far gone, or the wrong type, to benefit from a small percentage of Retinol. So, I've moved up to 1% Retinol in a different brand. Three days into the 1%, I could see my skin reacting to the Retinol!

I RARELY leave reviews for products like this because they were always a waste of time & money but I can 100% honestly say that with diligent as directed use twice a day I have noticed a significant difference in a couple of problem areas that I hated seeing every time I looked in the mirror. I am 60, always loved the sun, never used SPF anything & only good quality skin care lotions year round. I have these more than fine but not extremely deep lines on my cheeks that kinda resemble pillow marks but aren't & using this product has worked wonders on them. They aren't completely gone but A LOT less noticeable even without any make up at all. My hubby who NEVER pays attention to this kinda stuff & thinks it's just the natural aging process & is not shy AT ALL about telling the truth when asked even noticed a difference actually all on his own, & asked what I did. I've had prescription Retinol from the Dermatologist before but never stuck with it. Using this as directed & really sticking with a skin care routine really has made a difference. It doesn't really do much for the famous #11 between the eyebrows that we all tend to get but thats ok, it was my cheeks that made me feel worse, it even helps with the slight jowl sagging that was coming on. Really wish I would have taken before/after pics but figured it was probably just going to be another waste of time & money. But Nope, this stuff works nicely. I even use a little before applying any makeup by taking a small amount on my fingertips & dabbing it into those cheek lines, wait a few minutes to let it absorb & it does keep my cream foundation from settling into the lines. I never EVER use powder foundation or setting powder because it DEFINITELY settles into ANY fine or deep lines or wrinkles no matter what it promises, I guarantee its a huge fib !!! I've had this tube of Roc for about a month now & started noticing results within a couple weeks, just kept forgetting to leave a review. I count on HONEST reviews to help me when I'm trying to decide on any product no matter what it is, I know there is no way to prove or guarantee a review is honest & everyones skin is different & no product is one size fits all. But for me & my issues / dislikes with my own face / skin, I HONESTLY urge others to give it a try. The price is comfortable & a little really does go a lobg way, even with using it twice a day, I still have well over half the tube left. No one has to yake my word for anything, & I benefit in no way by leaving a good review (I wouldn't play that game even if I did). All I can say is that I'm really glad I gave it a try, & stuck with my routine because at least now I don't mind looking in the mirror & seeing what I see anymore & I'm not ecen one of those people that are all about "vanity", I'm 60, I get it, I'm aging, that's life but there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with caring about how my skin looks or makes me feel about myself. We ALL do it one way or another & not even intentionally.

Product left my face feeling sticky and itchy but the biggest issue I had was the scent. It has this earthy, dead leaves, wet dog kind of scent to me. I tried for a full week to get used to the smell but gave up. It almost made me sick every time I used it and of course I had to cover areas near my nose (like my mouth/lip lines) so I couldn’t get away from it. I don’t know how effective it is as I didn’t use it long enough to find out.

I swear by this BRAND altogether, let alone THIS holy grail of a product. TRUST ME when I say that IT WORKS ... and ... *queue drum roll* ... as advertised! This product won’t let you down if you have dry skin (like me) and/or experience fine lines around the eye and mouth areas (also like me). Product smells great. The consistency isn’t runny/watery and on the thick side; texture feels more like a cream than a standard serum. Wearable underneath makeup; just ensure it’s “dried”/set-in, first. (I usually apply it in the morning before doing a few odds-n-ends getting ready for work) (!) WARNING (!) To each of you beauties that are NEW to using Retinol based products like this, be mindful of a few things (maybe conduct a thorough Google search too to be 1000% sure this product is for you): 1.) Retinol works best when used on a regular basis; you’ll begin seeing the results as advertised, fastest, when working this product into your daily routine. 2.) If it’s tingling — IT’S WORKING! (I experienced this sensation more at the beginning of using this product since my skin had not yet been exposed to a Retinol concentrated product before.) 3.) If using during the daytime (and thus, plan on going outside) — SUNSCREEN! SUNSCREEN! SUNSCREEN! — Retinol is known to ATTRACT the sun’s UV rays and can cause the REVERSE EFFECTS if someone is not NOT CAREFUL! Following-up with an application of SPF 50 is a hands-down MUST!!! (SPF 30 is the absolute LOWEST you’d want to “play” with. Even then — it’s simply not worth it; JUST GO GET THE 50!) 4.) If you have SENSITIVE skin — in ANY capacity — PLEASE — I’m pretty much begging you — to PLEASE conduct a proper Patch Test prior to slathering this serum all over your face/neck. (I experience sensitivity in sporadic spurts and with this product giving off the tingling sensation [depicted above; #2] during the first few uses, I felt like it was more of a burning-like feeling, than a tingling one. — The burning-like sensation quickly subsided though and was even completely diminished by my 3rd [Day 3] consecutive use. — HOWEVER, I would also like to point out: If I skip/forget/am-too-lazy to apply this product for a few days, once I DO, the tingling [NOT the BURNING] sensation returns [w/ first-day of re-use only]. This happens because all of my fine lines are “drinking up” as much of the Retinol in this serum as fast as biologically possible!!!) TAKE-AWAYS: • This serum is hands-down amazing! I've used ROC deep wrinkle serum for several years. I just can't switch to anything else, because ROC is perfect for my skin. I won't leave home without it! After years of sun damage, my facial pores were enlarged and oxidized. I would use whatever moisturizer was available. ROC changed that! This serum is thicker, but goes on light, with a hint of golden color. It dries fairly quickly after application. There is no notable fragrance to it. The formula is effective at reducing appearance of wrinkles and lines, because it mattifies the skin somewhat, but is not harsh or drying whatsoever. I will always have at least two-bottles of this at all times, because running out is not an option!
