A great young adult story!
Wow, this was a great story! I admit I was in a huge book slump before I got my hands on this one. I’ve been reading a lot of non-fiction and didn’t realize how much I missed my fantasy/sci-fi worlds. This book is a young adult science fiction story about a boy who witnessed the “cosmic fall” of aliens to Earth. The book follows a young boy and his mother as they try to avoid investigation by the CSIS (kind of like the FBI) because young, Ben archer witnessed the “fall” and also gained mysterious alien powers. There’s mystery, suspense, action and it’s great for young adults. In all honesty this book, with a well written query letter and a knowledgeable agent, could easily be pitched to Harper Collins. The one and only downfall I see is that this book is in need of serious editing. The story is phenomenal and the writing is fabulous, but man oh man the typos. I hate to see an amazing read suffer from poor editing. I seriously urge the author to hire an editor (spend the money. You get what you pay for, trust me.) and then pitch this to agents and publishers. Seriously, this story has potential. Maybe even movie potential.

Super engaging...
WE love this book!! I wasn't sure if I would like this book but it is very mysterious and engaging... Got it for my 12 y.o and now I found myself making excuses for him to "read to me" so I can make sure he "understands" what he is reading lol... He finally caught on and said, "Mom, it's ok... I don't mind reading it to you since you like it so much" lol... Really interesting.. My son and I both recommend this book... Probably for 8 and up... Depending of course of the child... Fyi parents, get your glasses because the letters are a tad bit small... Still a great read tho…

We are all special heroes, even if not superheroes.
The hardest part of growing up is realizing the life is all about learning new knowledge, skills, abilities, emotions, and analytical differentialization. We all want to grow quickly with special control over our life, before we learn to care for others and find good purposes over bad. But we are human with limited physical presence and senses. Yet we can all achieve great things by doing the right thing and helping others.Occasionally some of them help back and form teams with friendship or common interests with us. Life should not be just individuals scrounging around playing king of the mountain. Instead it should be those who have conquered the mountain helping others teach the peak as well.Been Archer finds that facing fear requires courage and action. Nightmares are much less scary when shared. Although the realities of the possibility of aliens from space feel much different than expected, the realities of government reaction, secret organizations, and greed for power feels different than you are taught in school, too.School is a place for "education" to an unobtainable standard of minimal common information, plus how to access resources, and how to think. But it is just the beginning, not the end. Ben's mother wants him to go back to school, but he has already learned fat more than the school can teach him. And still at least two more books to try to survive and learn through if he lives.

This would make an excellent Disney film
I'm probably not in the intended audience. I'm long past being a young teen or even a YA, but I am still young at heart and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's about a young kid who is given an alien power who's being pursued by government agents and an alien. As far as I know, this is the author's first book and I think she's done an excellent job. I look forward to reading the sequel.

After the Fall
The story held my attention but I could not quite "get into it".I felt more like an observer than a part of the story. The end of this part of the story was a little unsatisfying. Also, the Mesmo character was too disassociated from the Ben character from my perspective. It was worth the read though and I will be reading the next installment to see where the author takes me.

Comic Fall great read
This is a fantastic read. This catches your attention right away. You might want a box of tissues for some scenes. Ben Archer is a witness from the Meter so him and his mother and some help from other people need to keep from being caught. You will absoulutey love this book. Its just the right pace. Theres plenty of twists and turns.Shauna Joesten

Mediocre scifi for tweens
For me, this was just okay. No real surprises or twists in the advancement of plot. No discernible theme or message until a hint of one at the very end. Most characters one dimensional only present to fulfill a singular purpose. I am unlikely to continue with the series.

An Absorbing and Imaginative Tale
Not a genre I normally read, but an absorbing, imaginative tale, with all the elements I love: a great story, a compelling mystery, well-drawn characters, lots of animals, and wonderfully depicted locations around the city of Vancouver. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Ben Archer is a hit!
Ben Archer is a great character. He gradually regains his memory as the story twists and turns through schoolyard bullies, alien spaceships landing on earth, mysterious investigating agents, and animals coming to the rescue. There is a great set up for a series. However, I wanted a more complete story. This is more part one than book one. If you enjoy sci-fi series, give Ben Archer a try.

Solid aliens-crash-to-earth tale
First off - this book has an AWESOME cover! Entices one to read it. I enjoyed this book. It’s a solid entry about an alien crash landing on Earth, with some neat twists, like a pet dog that basically serves as a service dog for a boy who has panic attacks. Love that there is a Canadian element, mainly the West Coast setting, which was well-used and integrated seamlessly with the events. Likeable main character and a plot that moves steadily and which kept my interest. It’s a complete story in itself but it’s pretty clear there is more to come. The characters are believable-the family and their interactions are natural and feel real. If you like stories about aliens on the loose, with otherwise ordinary people mixed up in a larger government conspiracy, this book is for you! Middle grade readers and up would enjoy it.

Compelling story
Loved the references to familiar towns and areas that made the story come alive to me. Great story that kept me intrigued, and will continue to do so as I read other books in the series.
