Perfect Bit Holder - Excellent Bits
This is the best set of bits that I have found next to the $3/each Snap-on bits. Pros: These bits are precision machined and very hard. They are durable enough that I have not been able to strip one while using them in an 18-volt powered driver. They are not designed for use with an impact driver, but Wera does make a set that is. The shank on these bits is machined down to provide a torque-limiting effect, which does two things: (1) It limits the torque the bit experiences at the fastener, keeping it from reaching the point where it strips out. (2) The narrow shank provides enough clearance that you can reach recessed fasteners, which is especially helpful in dismantling electronics or driving shallow countersunk screws. The bit holder for this set is a masterpiece. It holds 30 bits and a chuck, and yet it could easily fit in a pocket. The lid flips back and stands the bit holder up at a 45-degree angle, and the back row of bits flips back about 25 degrees to allow enough clearance to easily access the bits you need. The bits slide in and out fairly easily, but do not fall out if the bit holder is dropped while it is open (the lid might pop off, but it easily slips back on). The bit chuck that comes with this set is built very well and allows you to easily exchange bits without loosening the chuck on your driver. Cons: The bit chuck included with this set is very short and I would find it to be more useful if it were longer. Caveats: First off, this isn't a con, but a caveat emptor; this set is apparently designed for use in Europe. The slotted bit included in the set is a 1-mm bit, and it contains six Pozidriv bits, none of which have I found to be very often useful in the US (although Pozidriv is generally superior to Phillips, which is designed to cam out of the fastener at high torque load). As to the review in which the user experienced corrosion on the surface of the bits, all I can say is that I have had no such problems with my bits. If I was to guess, I would say the customer perhaps stored the tools too close to corrosives such as muriatic acid or pool chlorine, or lived in an area with high humidity and did not properly protect the tools. Tool steel is very susceptible to corrosion, and I wipe my non-chromed tools down with machine oil and store them far away from potential corrosives. Anyway, please don't let one bad review prevent you from trying out these awesome bits. 2-Year Update: I have been using these bits for over 2 years now and I have yet to wear any of them out. They are used primarily for automotive work and some odd tasks around the house. I have used them in an 18-volt impact driver, but they see most of their use in a Williams T-handle ratcheting screwdriver. I still have not experienced any problems with rust, but I am good about keeping my tools clean, dry, and oiled. At this point, I have no issues recommending this set and will buy another one when this one wears out.

Excellent bit set!
Wera quality and performance. Made for use in a drill or 1/4 inch bit holding screwdrivers. I personally believe that they would also hold up well in an impact driver, but just know that Wera has not rated them for that application. The fitment in fasteners is great. The selection of bits can cover most common screws. I find the included bit holder to be among the best you can find, secure bit holding and great magnet. The case is designed to be easy carried in a pocket and take up minimal room considering the amount of bits. You need high quality and great fitting bits.

The extra money is worth it on this kit!
Love this bit set and it has replaced my Royobi set. They lock in and pull the collar in the direction to remove it and bits pop out! I tried several bit holders to include Bosch, Makita, Ares and 2 Wera bit holders (model 3888/4/1K (Lt blue band) and 889/4/1K (green band aka ‘Rapidaptor’ came w/ the BC 30 Universal 1 set). The Makita is pretty heavy, only offers a strong magnet to hold onto bits and it sticks to everything metal on the way to a screw head also longest bit driver. The Bosch is awkward. You have to pull the collar to insert a bit and pull to remove it. While this would seem very secure, I change bits to nut drivers back to bits frequently and I had enough fiddling around trying to remember how to get the bit out. Not very intuitive. The Ares is a comparable tool and offers push the bit in to lock and pull the collar in the direction of removal to eject it... Still is not as good as the Wera bit with Rapidapter Technology. This bit is very intuitive and includes a suplimentary magnet so the bit doesn’t eject out somewhere under the hood, in the lawn or wreak havoc! My favorite is the scrap pile, where every crap tools go to die, you choose! This Wera BC 30 bit set w/ holder is pretty awesome and filled the void in my tool kit. I wish I gotten it before the other paperweights. You won’t be disappointed! If your just looking for the bit, pay the extra and get the Wera with Rapidapter Technology.

Compactness, most common bits, and quality
This tool is compact and complete. It reduces my trip to my car and allows me to work efficiently with minimal amount of tool. The quality of the bits are excellent it fits my drill and screw driver. If I lost this tool, I would buy another with out hesitation.

I might be able to put these in my will. They could outlast me.
If you're like me you're sick of buying bit sets. You've done the Craftsman, the Bosch, the Dewalt, the Ryobi and they all have the same things in common: 1) easy to get. 2) inexpensive....compared to the Wera you're looking at. 3) they do not last. I think all three of those points fall into the old saying of "you get what you pay for." And now you're here looking to spend a bit more because you buy into that old adage. Well, you've come to the right place. My experiences with the Wera bits have been life altering, epic, amazing, and...okay, I'm out of over-exaggerated misused words. These bits haven't been any of those things; they have just performed far better than your usual BORG (Big Orange Retail Giant)-bought bits. And that's all we're after right? Oh, right. The Rapidator. How can one review Wear bits without mentioning the Rapidator. I'd buy the bits simply to have the extra room in my toolbox due to the compact size of this holder vs. the GIGANTIC plastic boxes other ones come in. Not to mention the longer-lasting bit of the bits. But Wera threw-in the best bit adaptor I have ever used. In fact, I like it so much that I bought one of their multi-screwdrivers to pull the Rapidator out of that and another multi-screwdriver with longer bits to get a few more inches on the end of the drill or driver. When woodworking (especially cabinet making) one often needs to get the driver into some spots where the motor won't fit. The Rapidator that comes with this set is very short. So, spend the money. Stop buying terrible bit sets from the BORGlike stores and enjoy life a little more.
