Stylish, lightweight and accurate.
I came across Bering watches by chance. They looked interesting and well made so I took a chance and ordered one. Right out of the box this is impressive. My first Bering and a a very pleasant surprise. The dial is clear and readable with hour, minute and second hand. There is a small date window - probably too small - but you buy a watch to tell the time not the date, so who cares? The sides of the case are beautifully sculpted and the watch fits the wrist very comfortably. The reverse of the case has a fine engraving on the polished stainless steel. All in all this is a great looking watch from any angle. The wide Milanese strap is soft and flexible, with the standard type fastener that works very well and is so easy to adjust. I've never had an issue with these clasps coming undone on any watch strap and this one feels safe and secure. Bering helpfully provide detailed instructions on their website on how to adjust it for those who aren't familiar with the style. The strap is bespoke to the watch, so you won't be buying an off the shelf replacement if you want a different one. That won't be an issue for me as the strap is an essential part of how this watch looks and I wouldn't ever want to swap it for another. When it was delivered it still had some charge but the second hand was stuttering, showing that it was running out. After a few minutes in the light the solar movement took no time at all to start working properly. I set the time and haven't had to adjust it after a week of wear - brilliant. It would be interesting to know who's movement Bering are using for this watch. It's not an expensive watch and to have this level of quality, time keeping and looks (not to mention the sapphire glass!) it really is great value. Would I buy another Bering? I already have.

Bring back dress watches
It’s almost impossible to find a well priced well designed watch with just Arabic numerals on the face. Well no, I don’t want to look as if I’m about to go spear fishing off Grand Cayman in 1969 or pilot an airplane or participate in such an extreme sport that I need a watch that will survive when I’m carted off the field in a stretcher. This one is one of the few. It has the add design feature of being square for that streamlined look I like. The tiny date window, which really should not be on this watch, has the benefit of not cutting into the number 3 on the watch, as many windows do, keeping the design simple. The mechanism appears to be an Epson VS22A . Which has 20 seconds per month accuracy. That’s 2 minutes every six months, so I’ll probably only ever touch the time to adjust for daylight savings. Solar powered. Once charged the watch apparently runs for six months . As I’m not keeping it in the dark, I’ll probably never find out if this is true. The simple design square face, Milanese strap create a nice modernist dress watch that looks better in real life then it does in pictures.

A great alternative to Skagen
The packaged arrived all safe and well on the day stated for delivery.Years ago I had rectangular Skagen watches (and still do) however they seem to have shunned the rectangular shape over the years I even had the Skagen sub brand Grenen (now unavailable) a small rectangular watch that to date is one of my favourites. The Bering ticked the boxes for a new bigger watch than my Grenen and it looks great. This is a beautiful looking watch, very slim once on the wrist with the band easily adjusted with a small flat blade screwdriver. On arrival it was dead but after a short while indoors with the light on it started to tick every 2 seconds to signal low battery. After an hour or two in the kitchen with the light on normal ticking started. It is a slim watch that is easy to read, the second hand is very slim so should not be confused with the minute hand as can be done with some other watches I have. A dark face with silver numbers and hands works well with the sculptured inner face. The small date window to me is legible as well. Hands and numbers have some lume but like others in this style can fade after time and will be dark over night. Some aspects of this Bering watch are very similar to Skagen, the are very slim and even look to share a similar band mounting system with the band held in place by 4 small screws.Although I have a few slim rectangular and round Skagen watches the Bering brings back the simple rectangular shape, yes the date window is small and the band is non standard fitting but with its understated looks and design, The sapphire glass should make this an item on the new watch considerations list. The solar power is the icing on the cake.Highly recommended alternative to Skagen.

Unique watch to add to my collection
I've been looking for a Solar powered movement for a while now. After wearing it for the first time, I think I've made the right decision to choose this model. It works as a daily wear and will not be out of place for special occasions too. This piece came adequately charged with the time also set correctly which means the watch is good to go straight our of the box.

Nice and clear
Price on this item fluctuates wildly to dupe people into thinking they have a bargain. At £80-£90 price this actually is a bargain. Very clear dial (except date which is small). I have another Bering solar watch which I have had for many years and had no problems at all. Bought this one because I liked the style. Not having to replace the battery is so nice. I would highly recommend if you get the right price point.
