The best!
I have birch and maple trees near my house. These work better than anything I've tried, and I've tried all the downspout guards. Somehow they stay in place...they survived winter with record breaking rain and wind in Seattle. They allow water to flow into the gutter and don't get clogged like all the others. They're fantastic. I bought 4 different ones to try, these beat them all. I was skeptical because they seem very cheap. But, they're well designed.

Good solution for heavy tree debris.
We have large fir and maple trees surrounding our house so we have a lot of debris in our gutters year round. The metal inserts that we had in the past tended to get clogged up way to easy. These Have been a great improvement. They keep the needles, leaves, and seeds further away from the downspout opening in the gutter. This allows the water to make it through and into the downspout until I can get up to clean them. Because they are so wide they don't fit onto spouts that are close to the edge of a gutter. However, I simply used some scissors to cut them to size and they work just as well.Two things keep me from giving 5 stars: They have fold-down attachments that go into the downspout to keep them in place. I found that these are a bit of a pain to get to go in since they tend to fold up when I tried to install them. Also, they are so light that strong storms can dislodge them.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE STRAINERS!!!
The so called "stay-put anchors" DO NOT HOLD STRAINER IN PLACE! If you want to use these strainers you would have to secure them in place by some other means. Also, they don't appear to be very durable-not sure that would survive a winter. Don't waste your money on these strainers.

Would not recommend and I would not buy them
Didn't really fit in the gutter or stop debris from going down the leader. Would not recommend and I would not buy them again

Best solution out there
These are the ones to buy, I started with one pair and now have them on every downspout. They'll last forever too!

Works quite well for keeping gutters working even with some dirt/leaves in the gutter.
