Q: They reveal the handles are made from wood but what kind of hair are the brushes made from?

It's a horse hair brush. The brush is not soft, which helps spread shoe polish better than a softer brush.

Q: how does one care for this brush? I.E. once the wax/cream dries on it, can it be renewed?

I don’t worry about dried polish. The next dip in the polish softens what’s on the brush, and I don’t see any concerns with the polish job. Hope this helps!

Wipe off excess and then store in some type of container. Using a different ziplock bag for each color would be good.
