Clarion M109 CD/MP3/WMA Receiver (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

We purchased this stereo when we initially purchased our pontoon bot about two years ago. We had heard that marine stereos frequently need to be replaced due to the elements that they are subjected to. I am happy to report that after two seasons of using the boat, the stereo continues to work well. In fact, we've seen other parts of our boat start to have issues (some of the lights for example), but this little stereo continues to do well.We particularly like the Bluetooth connection. With it, we are able to stream music from our Windows Phone and iPhone devices - the sound quality is great.The one gripe I have is that the Bluetooth requires a separate device that mounts outside of the stereo on a Velcro sticker. This doesn't seem to me to be necessary - and after a while the sticker has lost its stickiness and had to be replaced. It's also a bit of a pain to remember how to pair it with new Bluetooth devices. None of those drawbacks are serious enough to drop a star - I recommend it and if it can make it through at least 3 seasons then (when we need another one) we will probably purchase the same model or whatever the latest version in the same line is.Nice job Clarion!

Bought this to replace an 8 yr. old radio on the boat. Install is straightforward, and resulting sound and power is very good.You WILL have to read the instructions to use all the features and set up the sound/equalization they way you like it. I'm very astute with electronics, but I found the menus and choices were Not intuitive. Good news is, you only have to set it up once, and once you do, you'll love it. My boat is just 18 feet, and power/volume is plenty adequate, with really good ability to kick out some bass notes from the speakers. Feature rich, sounds great.

No Bluetooth

I purchased this receiver for my boat to replace the stock Jensen receiver it came with. It has a nice look to it and plays MP3 cds, unlike the Jensen, and also has an auxiliary 3.5mm plug for mp3 players, phones, ipods, etc.. It also has nice eq presets built in and is easy to customize. Also has multiple outputs in the back for connecting to an amplifier. The only gripe I have with it is the randomizing of the mp3 cds. If you press the next track while in random it literally goes to the next track in order instead of randomizing it. This is only annoying because if you have several tracks by an artist and don't want to hear that artist you have to turn the random off then on again to randomize it. I have never had a receiver that did that. Other than that it is a great receiver and I am very happy with my purchase.

Wiring documentation clear except for new installations.....there's a red wire labeled Accessory +12 which is NOT an output to power up some accessory like a preamp. It's the ACC on the ignition switch and used to enable the unit to power; connect to +12. Once I figured that out, it works like a champ for the price. Easy to mount and sounds fine in my old Macgregor 26D.

Worked great for one boating season and two trips this season. Unit turns on, but plays no music on any source. Very disappoint in the product after reading such great reviews. I would not recommend this product due to its extremely short life span!

Purchased this head unit for my boat. Come to find out that it isn't compatible with the external wired remote even though the external remote was a suggestion for this purchase. Probably a nice unit, as long as you aren't planning on using it with a external wired remote.

Quick shipping, quality packing, easy install, great sound. A little difficult to understand how to operate. Overall, am very satisfied.
